DIY-S65 Front brakes and rotors

-Start by lifting or jacking the car (its dirty, i konw! have been daily driving for a week as my friends are in town and using my beater Lexus)

-next remove wheel and clean caliper (if you do this when reinstalling you get the brakes and rotors dirty)
-Next, you need to push back the caliper pistons. i use a large screwdriver.

-since there are four pads in each caliper, you must use something to hold the piston in while you compress the others. you can get creative, i usually use a socket or another screwdriver or bolt.

-next you need to remove the guide pins and plates. i used a small hammer and a punch. this is tricky as it gets tight in spots. just take your time and it'll work out.

-remove the old pads, they should just slide out.

-now remove the 2 larger bolts that hold the caliper to the spindle. they are 10 mm allen bolts.

-use a bunjee or something hold the caliper up and out of the way

-now remove the torx screw that is holding the rotor to the hub. i used a screwdriver in the side of the rotor to hold it from turning.

-once that is removed the rotor can come off. it may fall off or it may need to be hammered off depending on rust/corrosion build up.

-now you should clean the hub area with a wire brush before installing rotor to ensure a flat mounting area for the rotor.
-install new rotor and torx screw to hold it in place.

-next, remount the caliper with the 2 large 10mm allen bolts
-install the pads next.
-VERY IMPORTANT!!
-the pads are all marked with little arrows. these arrows must face upwards when installed! they are directional pads!!

-once pads are installed, clean and reinstall plates and pins. again using care and patience. there is a groove in the center of the guide pin where the plate sits. make sure it is in the groove or it won't sit correctly!

-now you are ready to remount the wheel and move to the other side.
-the other side is exactly the same except for the pad sensor.

-remove the sensor with a pair of pliers

-remove the sensor bracket with and inverted torx socket and secure it out of the way.
-after you've done the pads and rotor the same way, reinstall the sensor bracket and the new sensor.

-once on the ground again, pump the brake pedal slowly and softly until there is pressure.
-also, i alway like to cycle the ABC up and down a dozen times after having it in the air just to make sure that its bled.
-TOTAL COST-$1354
-Rotors $627 each at the dealer (parts guy a friend)
-pads $100 from MB world board member
-Time about 90 minutes including taking my time and pictures.

I'm surprised you didn't go with Akebonos instead of the oeM brand. But anyways now I know how to change my front pads when the time comes
