Mercedes V12 AMG Engine

Who do you know that has had problems? Who knows someone??

Everyone talks about the nightmares but never even knows someone that has had them? (Aside from people that race)

Mine runs prefect, always. I have full confidence when I hit the start button.

I would like to hear some Positive stories and articles on them.

Please share any info or links

Thanks,
Larry.

S55K AMG
When i bought my S55 i was stuck between buying the S55 V8 Kompressor or the S600 V12 Bi-Turbo. In the end i bought the S55 because of the sound factor, and because people were giving some horror stories about the V12 engines.

The other day a friend of mine bought a CL600 Bi-Turbo and iv been dying to see how it goes power wise against the S55.

A short blast around town and im pretty much hooked on the V12 engine and the power delivery. If money and all the other little factors in life allow i will hopefully one day get an S65.

My 5 minutes with a V12 Bi-Turbo got me hooked on it, so maybe they;re not as bad as people make them out to be.

V12TT's motors are solid, but they do eat coil packs, ABC pipes and motor mounts.

I suspect its down to the extra heat in the engine compartment.

Thanks everyone for the responses & input

Is there a factory follow thru on the engine build video? Found one on the 6.3 V8 but nothing on the V12?

S65
In the first month of owning my 06 S65 with ~70k miles I replaced both coil packs and one ABC strut as well as some other small things. While the $5k of repairs made me seriously doubt my decision to purchase the car I haven't had to do anything since(I am assuming my latest misfire issue is bad gas).

Just remember
ABC(pump/struts)
Mounts(motor and trans)
Coil packs
Front Rotors(really a wear item but I list it since it is very pricey)
Thanks,
Will

I think its just the amount to replace these items that can end up being costly

Rotors can go from 700-1000 each on 65 AMGs (Apparently there is an aftermarket solution)
Coil Packs can go from 800-1200 each
Struts go from 450-700 each, but there's also valve blocks and ABC pumps that can go out
Mounts are cheap but the labor isnt esp if you have a V12 SL

As mentioned by many people it seems only ABC/Coil Packs/Mounts is the major service these V12s need, everything else is pretty minor
