Be sure to read back at least 5 pages of the daily posts about these cars, after doing a search, on this site. Yes, they can cost a BLOODY FORTUNE to fix over time. My 2008 cost close to $12k to fix in 2 years, though mostly covered by the $5685 warranty I bought.

The 2012 I bought a year ago hasn't had anything go wrong yet. I also bought a 10/100k warranty on it. I LOVE THIS CAR. Just get one, you can't go wrong.

The 08's will cost A LOT less than a newer one. They're a bargain.

I just let mine go because of repairs and maintenance. I dumped $16,000 in maintenance and repairs alone this year!!!!! $10,000 for rotors, pads, and a control arm. $6000 to repair my amp and Sirus HD receiver. (All in CAD funds).

The RWD is a PITA during winter. I did it last year and it was challenging.

Personally driven both and don't think the TT is worth the extra money. Either one is a great car though. Just make sure you get the options your looking for. I haven't had any issues with my 32k mile 08. But just in case, I have an exclusionary warranty on it till 100k miles or 2021 ( no, that's not a typo ). I may be in the market to sell, life is short and there is a lot of cars I'd love to own.

Is that an MB warranty or an aftermarket? USAA will only let me get up to 4/48.

Aftermarket through my credit union. Had to use it only once so far for a pulsation dampner, covered the issue without a problem. It is a 6/75k mile policy that took effect June 2015.

I have a 2011 and it is a joy to drive. I feel good every time I get in the car and sometimes look for reasons to take it out. I have no experience with the NA motor but the TT V8 is awesome. As stated above, get one with all of the options that you want so you won't regret it. Some of the most common are Designo interiors/paint/woodgrain, exclusive Nappa leather, rear seat package, rear seat entertainment package, split view, performance package, B&O sound system, driver assistance package, and rear side window sunshades. Some people settle and don't get the car optioned the way they want and regret it. To get some of those options you may have to buy new but there are used models you can find that are well optioned.

I have had no mechanical issues outside of a pulsation dampner that was replaced under factory warranty. I get all services done on time and my car is not a daily driver. This car is great but very complex so I would not recommend owing one out of warranty.
