Rear Seat "rest" feature 2012 S63

Hi All -
My 2012 S63 is new to me as of March 2016.
When I turn off my new awesome beast, hop out and grab something from the back seat, I notice the "REST" feature in back cabin is on. Now I see this is the case every time. Not the front, just the back.

Is there a way to manage that? I know the program will monitor voltage so as not to leave me dead or whatever, I'm just wondering if there is a menu for "always on, or manual."

Thanks,
Rbenz

RTM? No way?! That's why we exist.
Does anyone have a hint on this REST always on in rear.

Where exactly are you seeing this "rest" display?

The rear climate control, facing rear passengers, on the back of the center console.
The words display, and just like the front "rest" feature, it will attempt to maintain comfort in the back cabin as long as it can.
I can reach in and turn it off each time, but I'm not sure why or if it should come on every time I shut the car off.

That is an A/C shut off mode. When ever you see "Rest" on the front or rear display, it means the A/C system is not producing cold air. It is simply blowing ambient air or remaining cold air in the system. The rear A/C will shut off or go into "rest" mode each key cycle as an efficiency program. That way if no one is sitting in the back to turn it on the car doesn't have to produce as much cold air, which equates to fuel consumption and horsepower etc.

The REST HVAC button stands for residual heat. Hit the button when the car is off and if there is sufficient heat in the system it will put that heat into the car. Handy for keeping the car warm when you pop into the store.

The button remains lit so you can see it, since the function is only available when the car is off. It's not on unless you push the corresponding button.

That makes perfect sense...to be able to see it if needed!
Come to think of it, I didn't listen to hear if it was actually on. Appreciate your feedback.

If I remember correctly it runs for a minute or two to reduce the mildew smell that the A/C unit can generate when suddenly turned off. It makes for a more pleasant interior smell.
