Valve Full of Oil
I read a lot about how frustrated you are with the advice you have been getting, but have you ever gone back to any of the 3 mechanics (?) and TOLD them that they MUST just replace the suspected coil pack and let you drive away?
You can change it yourself if you have some tools and have ever changed a battery in a flashlight. And it does not cost $1000. I see them at $69.00 each on Pelican parts for my V8, assuming reuse of good plug wires.
The work to replace cool packs is not hard on my V8. Take off beauty covers, take off air filter housing. 5 minutes tops. Maybe a few minutes more to get injector wires or other tubes out of the way. THEN, if you don't want to swap out the spark plugs or their wires, just 1 bolt to unscrew the coIl pack, pull off the plug wires, replace with new coil. (Each coil pack supports 2 spark plugs in my car)
you can even do an experiment for FREE by swapping the coil to a known good cylinder on the other bank and see if the problem moves with it. But assuming you can afford $70, just replace it.
Total elapsed time for entire job =30 minutes.
Caveat: I don't have a picture of the v12 engine to compare to my V8.
So disregard my experience.
I recall seeing other posts about people opening up those 6-coil packages to check for arching/scorch marks and swapping out capacitors and such. Maybe not a fix it yourself deal.
Perhaps a task for those of us who are interested in how it works and able to fix things.
A set of six non-serviceable ignition coils seems as another solution in search of a problem.
After reading this thread and everyones response I also believe that coil pack is bad.

I repaired one of mine shortly afterwards:

You have to be very careful removing the plastic cover.

Thanks for posting the conclusion.

Since I'm not selling anything, it's probably ok to post my website on here. www.russkaufman.com
The wording is a little out of date, I'm not really open to commissions these days.
