Can I ask a stupid question?
After all these posts, have you ever tried just changing out the coil pack on the cylinder you are worried about (#6?)? Did I miss that?
I read a lot about how frustrated you are with the advice you have been getting, but have you ever gone back to any of the 3 mechanics (?) and TOLD them that they MUST just replace the suspected coil pack and let you drive away?
You can change it yourself if you have some tools and have ever changed a battery in a flashlight. And it does not cost $1000. I see them at $69.00 each on Pelican parts for my V8, assuming reuse of good plug wires.
The work to replace cool packs is not hard on my V8. Take off beauty covers, take off air filter housing. 5 minutes tops. Maybe a few minutes more to get injector wires or other tubes out of the way. THEN, if you don't want to swap out the spark plugs or their wires, just 1 bolt to unscrew the coIl pack, pull off the plug wires, replace with new coil. (Each coil pack supports 2 spark plugs in my car)
you can even do an experiment for FREE by swapping the coil to a known good cylinder on the other bank and see if the problem moves with it. But assuming you can afford $70, just replace it.
Total elapsed time for entire job =30 minutes.
Caveat: I don't have a picture of the v12 engine to compare to my V8.

So disregard my experience.
I recall seeing other posts about people opening up those 6-coil packages to check for arching/scorch marks and swapping out capacitors and such. Maybe not a fix it yourself deal.

Perhaps a task for those of us who are interested in how it works and able to fix things.
A set of six non-serviceable ignition coils seems as another solution in search of a problem.

FINAL RESOLUTION TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
And the winner is everyone that said Ignition issue. Indeed at 64,000 miles my ignition coils had both gone out. They changed all of the spark plugs in both banks - 24 in total and then fired it back up and misfires galore happened. So they changed the right bank or cylinders 1-6 ignition coil ($1000 for part $400 for labor) and it solved all misfire problems except we were getting a few random misfires on #7 all of a sudden. Mechanic said that he thought left bank was starting to go as well and changed that coil as well while he had it all apart and all is well again in S65 ownership. It was a really expensive and stressful story but if I now get another 20k of mileage without a headache it will all be well worth it! I just checked out the jlg322281 post and wish I had seen this earlier!

I've been on here for years, I don't even diagnose anymore, I just throw the parts at it that I'm told. No stress, works every time, makes it easy to own a complicated high dollar used car.

Are you referring to the drive motor? They are prtrt tough generally and is a residue in combination of grease causing the slipping.
