clk 16" rims in rear S55 amg

As the title says.
Do anyone know if the 16" inch clk rim A2084010002 will fit in the rear end of W220 s55?
Know many e55 guys run them with drag radials in the rear with spacers.

I think that would be very unlikely.

Perhaps they downgrade their rear brakes?

You MIGHT be able to get away with 17's at the rear.

Im almost sure they only use 20mm spacers to fit them.
I will try to find out more.
All help I can get is welcome

Right, I may have to eat my words here.

I haven't used 18's on my cars for a while, but I tried fitting one to the rear of my silver S600TT, which has the large S55K brakes - 360x36 F and 330x26 R. I think all the 55K cars have those size brakes (though not the exact same rotors, due to different offsets).

The fronts definitely need 18's, but with one inch smaller rear brakes, I thought 17's might be OK. However, with a stock 18x9 wheel fitted, I was able to run a 25mm thick wooden block around much of the space between the calliper and the rim. Where the wheel well curved inwards, there was less than 25mm space, so it didn't look inconceivable that 20mm spacers might allow 16's to fit.

Remember that the sl55/E55 and CL55/S55 have quite different wheels offsets, so what works on the former may be different to the latter.

Matter of interest, what's the benefit of 16's? Better tyre choice? Cheaper tyres? Taller sidewalls?

Cheers, Nick

I believe those nice lightweight Rims will fit perfectly to the Rear, cause the height of this 4-pot AMG caliper is only (250mm)..!

Also, spacers may need it during to caliper clearance..

Thanks for the input guys!
I love this site
Spot on Welwynnick.
Taller tires are very good for grip and tire reaction.
The thing that concerns me are the low ets.
The clk rim has et35 and with 20mm spacers your down to et15.
Thats quite far from my original et46.
The S320 sparewheel seems like a better match with the specs 16x7,5 et51.
With 20mm spacers your down to et31.
Plus the junkyards have them for a bargin around here.
Thoughts?
