And so it begins! V12 Coil pack issue
2006 S65 w/ 85K miles
I've already emailed with Clark. He's such a great resource and whatever parts I need will come from him as long as it's something he sells. Clark says that a vacuum leak or bad O2 sensor can also cause similar codes.
I ended up clearing the codes and I'm waiting to see if they come back on. It was a bit odd to me that the car has had zero issue for the last 10k miles and then, all of a sudden I got all of those codes at once. There was no noticeable performance drop. I'll add one layer of detail to this situation, yesterday I had a tire go bad on the front and took it to Discount Tire and when I dropped it off at Discount Tire, the CEL was off. When I picked it up, it was on. They said all they did was put the spare tire on but I can't help but think that just maybe they were looking around and bumped something (battery) that gave it a temporary glitch.
I also pulled my maintenance log and at least one side coil pack was replaced at 45K miles in 2010.
For now, I'm in a holding pattern waiting to see if it comes back on again. I drove it 15 miles to my office this morning and put it under load, as my commute includes a stretch of interstate where I cruise around 100mph for about 5 miles. (I don't need any lectures on my irresponsibility)
I also thought of that it could be the voltage transformer but I'll just have to wait and see if/when it comes back on if it throws the exact same codes. I would think that a bad voltage regulator would produce random misfires and not ones linked to exact cylinders. We shall see.
