Yup. That's the pilot bushing. Good news is that it takes less than 30 minutes to swap out. Just be prepared for quite a bit of ATF to come out. I know because I replaced mine last week.

Yeah I picked it up at the dealer today, says pilot bushing on the bag.

Transmission flush was done two years ago, I'm assuming the color is also due to wicking its way threw the harness and picking up contaminants on the way.

Did a tranny in a parking lot.

Had a leaky rear main so I took care of that, and threw a 3k stall converter in there because it was out already so why not.

Nice! I'm running a Mercedes OEM 2k stall and I love it! How do you like the 3k? Takes a little bit to get used to the car not moving until it reaches the RPM, but now it seems totally normal.

It just takes a tiny bit more throttle to get going doesn't rev up to 3k. Overall around town you notice it but if thats how the car came you would be fine with it. At cruising speeds giving it a little throttle it will rev up a little then the clutch locks it. The only time you can get it to stall high is from a stop. If you're cruising and floor it it's the same as stock it doesn't stall high. I can start from a stop in second and roast the tires or launch in second and not have to worry about 1st to 2nd shift.

Yeah that sounds about right.. it does spin up to a higher RPM now when driving from a stop but not the full amount of the stall.

Guess I'll post some progress.

Mocked it up and started to modify the snout too get the full potential of the 90mm throttle body

Working on fitting long tube headers, the 3k s55 ones didn't seem worth it so I'm taking the gamble with the cheapest e55 set.

Passenger side installed, two small issues the first is it hitting on the heat shields for the subframe, which doesn't really need it and the bolt that secures a heat shield. So I removed the bolt, there was 3 others holding it in. I chopped the section of the heat shield that was rubbing and gave the tube closest a little taparoo with a hammer, for a grand total of almost an inch of clearance.

the end of the header was hitting the floor pan. I started hammering but that was to slow. Purists beware, I used a floor jack too push the floor up and it worked great. Driver side soon to come.

Pushed the floor up? Ouch! My MBH Longtubes should be here any day. They also just had a sale and they were close to $2k I think.

Well got some welding done and things are actually going back together. Haven't had anytime to work on this with everything going on.

Trying to get the driver side studs in for the header was causing issues so I just had to walk away. But here is some pics of what's going on
Passenger side officially bolted up.
