S65: motor mounts Rein vs Lemforder?

Going to replace motor mounts in my S65 soon. Have a collapsed driver side mount that's causing strange harmonics and vibration around 2k RPM. The passenger side is probably on its way out.

Looking at FCP Euro, they currently stock two OE mounts; one from Rein which is about $40 each, and Lemforder at over double the price at $91 each.

Any experience with either mounts? Why is the Rein brand so much cheaper? Are they both liquid filled like the factory mounts, or are they solid rubber?

FWIW, the Porsche guys have said good things about the Rein mounts for 911s.

use MB oem only for mounts on the 65.

I have used all different types of aftermarket ones on loads of different MB's and they arent as good as MB. Even the expensive lemforder ones.

James,

Rein is reboxing the OE part. Let me know if you'd like me to send some high res pics over.

Thanks Kyle, no need for the pics. I know they're OE parts... just curious as to why the large price difference between them and the Lemforder mounts.

BTW, you assisted a few months back with obtaining the correct transmission mount. Do you remember? Anyway, I can't seem to find them listed on your website anymore. Is FCP no longer stocking tranny mounts for the W220 S65? I'm just curious as I plan on ordering a spare mount.

The factory mounts to my knowledge are sourced either from Lemforder or Rein or some other OE manufacturers. I don't think MB makes their own engine mounts for the V12 cars.

It's typically Lemforder or Corteco making them.

They are lemforder, but the MB branded lemforders are made to a higher standard than the aftermarket lemforder and are not that different in price.

The Speedriven mounts use Energy Suspension medium compound polyurethane bushings. So its hard to tell the difference from stock.

Replaced mine this year. Like a new car again. These mounts are not for weekend mechanic. FYI
