Agreed, but any major issue, or tons of little things? These are certainly no Camrys.

Sorry, a $170,000 car should not have SO many issues with it after 10 years, IMO.

Also, one of the accumulators blew the other day, sending over a litre of fluid through the dipstick tube all over the ground. I swear, I think this car wants self-destruct sometimes.

I just cannot depend on this thing to get me anywhere of any distance.
The little stuff adds up. I bought my car for $12.5 and it was in very good shape even the MB specialist gave it the thumbs up but I've spent about 15k in parts and labor and that's at dealer wholesale prices and my buddy who owns an MB specialty shop doing the work.. the problem is you are in the zone where it all goes. 85k... it will get better once it gets sorted out but if you aren't willing or can't afford to spend some serious money sorting it out you should just sell it. Once it's all sorted out though it's a beautiful car!

I spent roughly 12k on a 10k s55 and it still has PSE pmp issues at ~120k miles. Major stuff like abc will give you a hefty bill. Its pretty stressful to own a vehicle like this. Bittersweet when I sold my vehicle last month.

I still get flak from "purists" on my switch from ABC to Strutmasters, but I have spent no money on suspension issues since, so I frankly don't give a darn about anyone's opinion on that matter. DIY can only save you so much money and work on the rest of the car; at some point it bites you badly and you contemplate the decision to put up with it...

Since I am in Colombia and there are not even 5 more of these here, I have to import everything to keep her running.

Keeping up with these cars is a challenge but I previously owned a 2003 Range Rover and a VW (among others), so for me this car is a quantum leap in terms of reliability. Nevertheless, I respect your decision about selling the car, as once you hit that point, based on my previous experiences, more and more stuff starts to fail and you end up hating the car and life in general. I hope you get a decent price for it and the new owner has the heart to keep her as you would!

I have gone into this thinking as well in regards to my '05 CL65. Had it two years, bought w/ 48k miles. First year was perfect, then since April this year I have dropped a bit over $9k into it. That was with me doing all of the work.

Motor is great, but all of the 'known problem' ancillaries associated with the car went belly up all at once. Was parked in my driveway for months sorting it all out and replacing bits one at a time, one thing lead to another. Completely lost faith in the car. At one point the thought crossed my mind, hmm, hurricane Harvey is coming, wonder what flood insurance payoff would be... I was that ^*&#5$.

However, fixed the items mentioned above knowing I would not get squat if I sold it as a 'tow away' car. Afterwards took a long pause and thought about it. At this point all the parts that had to be replaced where all the items that are known to go bad around the 50 to 70k mark. I had now replaced all of them, plus a few more. What I am left with is a CL65 having 63k miles on her, all of the suspension, ABC pump (twice - angry story to follow...), coils, etc etc etc replaced. All of the known Achilles heals of the car are now new parts.

I can not speak for you or your situation, but for me, at this stage after suffering through all of the known grief points these cars can impose upon us, why bail now once it is pretty much back to giving me confidence again? Granted, this might change if she turns around and bites me up again but for now driving this car makes up for all the grief I went through since April to now.

Just rationalization from someone in the same boat.

(Side note to my last statement, a professor I had once said "Huntsville is full of people who can rationalize very very well". To those who do not know, Huntsville the max security federal prison right outside of Houston.)

I can't say enough good things about my 2011 S63! Coming from a 2005 S55 was a major upgrade. You will like.
