Engine Rattle
Hi all
My 221 has an annoying rattle.
It is not present when cold. It starts around 40Deg C oil temp and up. Turning on/off AC and electrical consumers appears to make no difference.
It is present around idle and then disappears above 1500 ish rpm. It has been present for the last 8,000 miles and has not gotten any worse/better, despite 2 oil changes.
Poking around with a stethoscope, it seems as though the sound is coming from drivers side mid cam cover, however from underneath the car it seems like its coming from front passenger side.
I have not tried running the car hot with the aux belt off, as its a pain to get to (fan removed etc).
It seems to be in time with the cam shaft, but could be coincidental.
Engine noise when cold (no rattle):
Engine noise when warm (rhythmic rattle):
Quite hard to hear, will try and get another from below soon.
