W220 S65 wheels in S55

Hi all,

As a part of my fight with poor traction in S55 I would like to give it a try with 19" wheels from s65.

As standard for 19 in the rear in s65 is 9.5 et 60 and et44 8.5 in 55 it shouldn't stay out of wheel arches. However, is it going to fit?

I also have found s65 wheels with 9.5 and the seller claims that et is 44. Is it even possible? These particulae wheels have been repainted and I am being sceptical about this et. Have you ever seen such et in these 19 titanium gray wheels? Or is it fake? I saw 19 in the design as s65 wheels however just silver. Maybe this is such case.

If et 44 19s are original then the question is if it is going to fit. My car is not frequently driven and I would like to avoid damaging rear fenders once ABC will drop after longer park.

Also, once I get 19 I would like to refubrish current 18? Do you know how can I get the same paint? Nobody wants to touch it claiming that it is impossible to get such paint. (These are not twin spoke wheels but 5 spoke from package available also for s600 amg).

Thanks!

If you see the amg logo on the wheels, then most likely its real. Ask the seller to show you the stamp of the offset.

Unfortunately it's not so easy. As these are 2-piece wheels there is a certain risk that it might have been somehow mismatched or repainted in titanium color. Regarding the AMG sign, believe me, there are houndreds of fake wheels online.

For me is important to make sure that 1) the wheels will not rub when suspension lowers 2) this size is genuine for AMG

I have factory 19” 2-piece wheels on my 55. They were a factory option. I don’t think it has the slightest thing to do with your “traction” issue. Rear offset is different on the 65 so I’m not sure if it’ll fit.

See here for sizing ... http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mer..._2pc_wheel_285 (for the 55 wheel)

vs

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mer...2pc_wheel_2088 (for the 65 wheel)

Cheers,

maw

PS. I don’t know where you’re located, but (1) pics of your current wheel will help; and (2) I’ve never heard anyone say a MB wheel paint is hard to refurb. The 2-piece are difficult to refurb because the rivets might be seized, break off during disassembly, etc. But that’s just unheard of for single piece wheels. Keep looking. Maybe grab a set on eBay and sell yours.

Thanks for the link. The set in the link is 9.5 et46 in the back. And the ones I want to buy are et44. Now the question is if extra 2mm can be too much and also if this size ever has been produced. I am very cautious with the width and et as with ABC when the car goes down upper part is under the fender.

Here is the pic of my current wheels (found online). Nobody wants to paint it saying that this colour is hard to get.

The factory hyper silver paint isn't available but those 600 AMG wheels shouldn't be that color, they should be able to match them up just fine.

I am afraid this is exactly this colour and nobody has it.
