S65 - 2nd on list at Dealer

Just called the dealer and got on the list for a S65, unfortunately not #1. They don't have any info on production dates, price or anything yet - but soon I hope I will get all the details.

MBUSA has released no plans as of yet to bring the S65 to North America.

The dealer says it is coming

I asked again today and they say it is coming here, I hope they are right.

I'm sure it will eventually make its way here. Makes no sense why they would bring in the CL65 and the SL65 and not the S65.

Maybe we will see it for model year 2006.

The real problem I see with the x65 models is that they are nowhere worth their price.

The CL65 MSRP before options is $177,000 and the SL65 MSRP before options is $179,500.

For those prices you are in a whole new playing field. You should be looking at Ferrari's and Lamborghini's or at least multiple cars.

No kidding.. For that kind of money, why would you spend it on a Benz when you can own a far more superior vehicle? Unless, of course, you wish to have the S65

A Ferrarri or a Lamborghini (err.. Audi I mean hehe) ain't all that.. some people are interested in pure sports cars, other like to have massive power in a comfortable environment..

I think the Benz is just a better car for every day use, IMHO, Ferrari's and Lambo's are better utilized for weekend usage. The 65's are better daily drivers. Good luck with your order.

I heard the bently continetal is real bargain for the price, given it has a V12 and costs less than these models. Not to put down Benz but a Benz is no Bently in brand name and luxury. Maybach should probably do a couple also. The pictures look really nice

Continental 4-door

The Continental is a great alternative, I drove one at the dealer the other day and then they showed me a picture of the 4-door which is coming out sometime next year - it was great looking. That is a viable alternative.

The only downside is that the dealer is kind of snobby and the car felt like I was driving a car designed by a Morton's Restaurant.

Yes, it looked a little longer, but definately in the same vein as the 2 door.

I keep on reading these and similar comments from you and have to wonder what kind of "far superior" vehicles you are talking about.

While I have my own complains about Mercedes, not too many far superior cars come to my mind (Bentley or Ferrari are certainly not it)...

With the CL65 AMG and the SL65 AMG you can go for a Ferarri or a Lambo but I reckon the S65 AMG with 5 full seats is perfect coz nothing is as good with 5 seats (Or is there?)

That's true, if I had any self restraint it would be a great move for a year old one.

Is depreciation on this thing that bad? I would have thought with only 20 a year for the UK, depreciation would be good on this thing...
