What problem are you experiencing - the glass not opening/closing, or the shade not opening/closing? Is it making a grinding noise?

Will not lower back of sunroof. comes down an inch and is lower on the DS. tried to use hexhead on manual drive hole, but sounds like the gear is slipping. Is there a thread on dropping the headliner to change the motor? Thanks for your time

I’m having a sunroof issue
My sunroof is making a grinding noise and won’t open nor close. Seems like you have the resolution to my question on how to fix this. If you don’t mind sharing your guidance I’d gladly appreciate it. Thank you.

Sunroof not opening, grinding noise
Hi,
Ok so I don't really use the sunroof but open it every few months and clean all rubber thoroughly etc. Anyway opened it up and closed it, and then it failed.
So now, upon trying top open the roof...... the hard fabric cover slide will open fully however at full slide back, just as it gets there, there is single 'click' sound., then the glass should raise and the glass should open of which it does NOT. It makes no noise just does not raise or open.
Upon closing the fabric slide as it comes to full close there is a cog grinding sound which would not stop if you left your finger on the button (which you obviously don't do)
Any hints please ?
