CL600 vs CL65 front brake swap / S 65 same Brake

hello,

the brakes of the W220 65 are the same how the W215 65 are. Maybe someone can help here.....

i want to swap my CL600 front brake rotors (360mm) in CL65 rotors (390mm). The caliper is the same but the brackets are different.

Does anyone have these brackets for sale or does anyone know if there is a aftermarket part that fit for this project?

If not maybe someone can give me the brembo batched number on the brackets. Any help will be very appreciated. THX a lot for your replys.......

There is a wrecked 220 S-65 locally that is being parted out. (Not mine)

I can get bits needed once you figure out what fits.... No returns or exchanges.

I have made some of these brackets, They are perfect. I stared by scanning and CMM measuring original ones.

They look great. What exactly is the Difference between the 600/65 brakes besides the rotor size?

Maybe someone can help me understand because i'm battling for information for upgrading my W208 Brakes, and trying to decide how large of a rotor i can fit.

My question however is Universal...

If the factory rotor size is 340mm and you upgrade to a 360 or 380mm rotor size, but you're keeping the same caliper and brake pads, if the surface area of the brake pads doesn't also increase, isn't the rotor size increase pointless?

I would have to image that just because you are increasing the rotor size, if the caliper/pads stay the same, you are still getting the same barking power without necessarily upgrading your brakes?

Think of a larger rotor like a longer wrench, more torque can be applied.
SL 600 breaking distance from 70 mph 178 feet
SL65 Breaking distance from 70 mph 160 feet

I cam machine this brackets to any offset
380 , 390 , 402 ,405 etc.
the ones in the picture are for 390mm.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I will not share the file as I have money and time invested into it. I paid one of my employees to create the file and another to machine it. With that being said I had a few machined and ready to ship.
I have it listed in the for sale area and eBay.
or msg me.

Thanks Rich! One more question - once the caliper is offset with the bracket, do we simply first 65 discs? Is there a disc offset or width issue?

Yes just change out the old bracket for this one. 19.7661.05 replica, this bracket moves the caliper out 15mm for the AMG rotor of 390mm.
the rotors are the same thickness 36mm
you still use the same caliper.

Thanks for your effort Rich, how can I find you on eBay? I have a 2007 CL550, and I would like to upgrade the brakes on the E55 AMG (6-piston Brembo)

M273abc, you'll find a part number stamped on the inside of your existing bracket. I suspect you'll find it's different. This thread may shed some light: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...6-pot-e63.html

Rich, thanks very much for staying connected to this thread.

From what I have read the bracket will work both the 8 piston and 6 piston calipers.
Here is picture of the bracket that I have copied.
At the beginning of this thread the person was looking for this bracket ( 19.7661.05) to fit their CL600 Knowing that it fits there car.
It looks like the 2007 and up W211 6 piston calipers are more desirable to get with the bigger pistons.
I may look for some myself to swap out my 8 piston calipers on my R230 SL.
If you decide you want a pair just PM me. I will give you my email direct. Ebay may have problems as our postal service is on strike right now in Canada.

Thanks for your reply and for helping. I want to mount slightly larger calipers on my 2007 CL550 and I'm a bit lost hehe.

Thanks again Rich for being on the thread. Let's see if I'm lucky and find some tweezers.
