Exclamation Power issues after acceleration

Recently took my car out on a warmer day. Eased into the power from about 40. Around 120 it feels like the car wont accelerate more even tho my foots still down. Get to a red light and everything seems fine. Idle is smooth. No lights. Driving away from the light the car seems like its at a loss of power. Shifts at 2000 RPM and shifts seem hard. Park the car and come back out in about 4-5 hours and car seems better. Drive it the next day and it seems to be back to normal. Only stuff i could find searching is possible waste gate stuck open. Any ideas?

I would check your intake air temp. If the circ pump is out or excessive air in the system IAT's will be high and computer pulls timing. If the two heat exchangers on top are too hot to touch after a drive then that's an indication of a problem with the system. I think at some point there's a stored code for high IAT's but I don't think there is a code for a failed circ pump. Not sure. I check mine occasionally to ensure it's working. You can search through here there's a bunch of discussion on it.

Would a generic OBD2 scan tool be able to pull the codes? Other than touching the heat exchangers, is there another way to verify. Pump hand on pump while running or voltmeter?

Thanks for the help

The iCarsoft MBII shows both stored and current codes (DTC - detailed trouble codes) and real time values such as IAT and many others for all the various modules on the car. It will also clear DTC's. I also have a generic OBD reader which shows CEL code info and some real time values including IAT but it doesn't show any DTC info. The generic reader works on any make whereas the MBII is Mercedes specific.

The icarsoft MBII I guess is the best recommendation outside of getting Star?

This is exactly what my 2007 S65 is also doing. It would be running perfect under normal conditions with no issues. Then I would really press the motor and it would lose all the power
but still run perfect except it just sounds different. No codes or lights. Turn it off and back on again and she was back to normal. Right before I put it away for the winter I brought it to a MB expert and he plugged her in. No codes. no issues at all that he could find with the motor. They then checked the trans and all the values looked good. I have also changed all the plugs, both coil packs and had the trans serviced to try and figure this out. Nothing seemed out of place. nothing.
Just a couple of weeks ago I decided to start the car and move it. Started right up and sounded very strange to me, just like it did when it was having the lose of power issue. Then all of the sudden the check engine light finally came on. I did a quick code scan and I am getting random miss fires all over the place.
I now believe that my voltage transformer is failing and has finally shown it's true colors. Since the car won't move for at least 3 more months I have time to order a nice rebuilt VT from Clark.
BTW, I also have a Eurocharged tuned ECU and TCU.
Good luck
Johan

I noticed on the highway some shaking in the steering wheel that eventually went away while driving. Didn't feel like suspension components/ tires. More like car was running rough. Usually cant tell the engine is on at 80 mph.

Johan be sure to apply smoke to rule out vacuum leaks. The plastic hoses that operate the waste gates get brittle.
My 275 does a crappy hot start after it hot soaks. I'm told is due to low fuel pressure left in the rail after it is shut down + the way Ethanol likes to boil. Annoying but I know what it is. When it does it really bad I will get a check engine light. Grrrr.

M275fan you describe a tire vibration. Balance them or replace with Continental DWS. Love mine. Quiet. Grip dry, in the rain and don't have to park it when it snows.

They were balanced a couple months ago. The roughness was intermittent. Replacing them anyway. Was going with the extreme contact sport.

Good choice... Esp if you live in a warm climate. Somehow I have never managed over 20,000 miles on a set of tires. Bwahahahahaha!

Where in the Northeast? I am from Maine and the year prior I only drove my S65 a total of 1,500 miles. Pretty sad.

goodness! My S-65 gets 2-3 times that number of miles monthly!

Get to the bottom of the drivability issue?

Well even if I did get it sorted out there is no way I could even test drive the poor car. Snow everywhere!
Probably will have to wait until give or take April to try.
