Just got my S63 (new to me)

Here's how I just got my 2015 S63 Coupe. I went to get new brake pads on my 2014 ML63 and when I dropped it off I was talking the the general sales manager about how I love the S63 just to shoot the bull and see how long it would take to order one. He said about 2-3 months. I asked for a loaner so I could get back to work since the brake job would take about 4 hours. He said he had something I could use from the lot different then their loaner fleet. He takes me to their used car lot and gives me a 2015 S63 Coupe in Diamond White metallic with Crystal Grey Designo interior, carbon fiber in and out. Stickered new at $190,000

Needless to say 2 days later it's in front of my house and they now have my ML63. The car only had 644 miles on it. There was a Nav issue and they replaced the whole system and it works perfectly but the owner was an ederly attorney and demanded a new car. Saved me $30,000 off the sticker! Also has magic roof, Burmeister sound system, red brake calipers, drivers assistance package and 20" silver 10 spoke rims (wished they were black but not a deal breaker)

Kinda worried about the interior and I usually get black leather so it is easy to keep clean. Light colors show dirt easily. I had a Lexus SC430 with saddle brown interior and my jeans would discolor the leather, very annoying. Any tips on protecting the seats from clothing discoloring them?

Thanks,

Rob

Congrats. That's a helluva deal. Hopefully when I take my CLS550 into the dealership for some work I can get a loaner like that. Lol.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss so don't do this unless you want to know

Find a buddy who has a good relationship w another Benz dealer, give him your VIN and ask them to give you the VMI

You can also ask your dealer, but I suspect he will not share it with you

I hope I'm wrong, but the new NAV = replacement vehicle doesn't sound right to me

Jenz, what would the VMI do to help?
I've had nav issues with my S63 since it was new. Didn't discover it first, but after a while I realized that there was no LTI (Live Traffic Information). The car went in and out of service a couple of times, and they also replaced the comm module without luck. There is a Xentry issue (GI82.85-P-059982 mine dated June 11, 2015)) with some proposed actions. Action d says: "we are currently developing a procedure that is expected to be available August 2015. Change no parts.". I got a "pre-release" of the software update late july and it solved my navigation issue.

Everyone's situation is unique. This isnt' some kid buying a CLA250 for the first time. This was an older attorney who has a relationship with the dealership and has bought multiple cars from them over the years. He is no push over and has big money from settling the Asbestos law suits years ago. As for the NAV, I've had ZERO issues. Who knows, maybe he regretted the color combo and used that as an excuse. They also didn't give him his money back, he ate it. They only gave him $about $155k-160k for the car and he place a new order. He's worth millions and in his 70's. You can't take it with you!. BTW, the NAV issue is he couldn't change the direction it showed the car moving. The dealership is more than happy to put in a whole new unit as it's like insurance, they get paid from the manufacturer. The more work they do, the more money they make. Most dealerships make more off the service than the sales department.

So you gave them a $30,000 profit??

Anyway if you're happy that's all that matters it's a beautiful car enjoy

fulmitz said the car was stickered at $190k, and he saved $30k off that. He also said the first owner ate about $30-35k... so it sounds like the dealer profit was < $5k, which is about right for a quick turnaround.

Good deal for fulmitz and dealer, not so good deal for the first owner but as fulmitz said maybe he had regrets over the color or something else... doesn't seem like it would be worth $30-35k (even to a wealthy individual) to fix a nav issue that in all likelihoood could be taken care via software update or further electronics replacement at M-B expense.

Thanks Heisenberg! I was just about to say the same thing. I don't think Romeo read or understood the original post. So far the car has been issue free for me! Last CPO I bought was a G63 with 800 miles on it. The G63 had a list price of $145k and I got it for $125k. Traded in 1 year later and the dealer gave me $118k for it. My wife still misses the G63 but we needed a bigger car. Got a GL550 and she found it too soccer mom. Traded that in on an Escalade ESV Platinum. It's in the shop after 1 month! I told her to get the GL63

Reading this quote was like watching a car auction. Lol. I didn't realize the GL was bigger then the G, but when I think about it it is. The GL has a full 3rd row & I'm assuming the G doesn't.

The GL is much bigger than the G. The GL is based on the S class frame if I'm not mistaken. We have a baby seat full time in the rear so any of our family members came to visit it was very cramped in the G wagon, we would have to take 2 cars. With the GL and the Escalade that's a non-issue. I took the GL to Nashville to visit my brother and with the GL we had 4 adults, a rear facing child seat and a forward facing child seat. It was cramped in the back for the strollers. Not much storage with the 3rd row up. In the Escalade we have room for all that and the strollers and Luggage, etc. The ESV is HUGE!! and we're planning on a 2nd child soon so it was the best choice.

CK the VMI is the Mercedes internal carfax, it will show you where all the bodies are buried wrt the vehicle

It is internal only, but most dealers will show it to you PRE PURCHASE if you make it a deal breaker, I ask for it on all MB buys

OP how do you know all that back story on the original owner, salesman tell you?

Jenz,

I've known the sales manager and the salesman for 7 years. We are good friends and they always call to give me heads up on good deals. I've never had an issue with them deceiving me and I've bought at least 9 cars from them in the past 7 years. As for the whole story they wouldn't tell me whose car it was as they keep things private as I would hope. I wouldn't want them telling people my story when I trade in cars, my name profession etc.

When I went to activate my Mbrace the person who answered (I called from the car) greeted me with the previous owners name. Apparently the original owner never called and cancelled his Account. They couldn't activate my account until he called and cancelled his account. From there, Google is my friend. I looked him up and found his webpage as he's an attorney who handled the Asbestos and Mesothelioma lawsuits down here. Class action lawsuit money is BIG money!

Every time I see that interior I blush. I don't think enough is said about it in car reviews

Considering a custom set of wheels for her?!

Ben,

I don't thinkso, but if I did change my wheels, I'd get the OEM rims like mine in black, the 20" 10 spoke mono forged wheels. I live in New Orleans... Pot Hole City! Especially where I live uptown. Pot holes appear overnight and some turn into sink holes! 20's ride rough enough as it is.

Those wheels from Wheels Boutique are slick, but the black OEM wheels look really good against the Diamond White Metallic.

Wow fulmitz, it's just gorgeous! Agree that is the best interior of them all, well maybe except for the sedan with the designo dashboard, functional pano roof, and pop out rotating Burmester speakers; I'm still bummed the latter were not used in the coupe!

Your car is almost exactly like I plan on ordering, other than (maybe) matte versus diamond white exterior paint, same wheels but in black, and the 'fine lines' piano black rather then CF interior trim. I see you have the exterior carbon fiber package too, it really looks fantastic with the white paint.

Are you planning on doing any other mods like ECU, lowering, DVD-in-motion, etc ? I've also thought a black wrap might look nice on the small roof area between the pano and rear window on the white and other light color coupes.

The only mods I'm considering right now are reinstalling my Escort 9500ci and the remote start from mid-city engineering. I'm waiting for the modules for the S-coupe. I'd like the black 10 spoke forged wheels but my wife would kill me. Good news is they almost look black from all the brake dust!
