Were they NA cars? keep in mind, too, that the S is designed to be quieter and smoother than the "lower" Mercedes. If you had the NA cars, obviously these are louder, as the exhaust energy is basically all noise- in a turbo car, a lot of that energy goes to spin the turbos. They muffle the sound.

S class cars are built with much more soundproofing than the standard cars. Not too much you can do to improve it overall (inside), but don't worry, everyone driving around you will know.

As the 'lightest' and sportiest model in the S Coupe range, I think AMG should think about emphasizing the S63 sport features i.e. louder exhaust, race start function (which the MCT/4MATIC certainly supports as in the E/CLS63), and moving the shifter off the steering column to where it belongs on the console, for the mid-cycle refresh. Keep the S550 as the more luxury-oriented base model, and the S65 as the fast and ultra-luxurious, heavy, and super expensive range topping cruiser that it already is.

they are extremely heavy cars with a lot of soundproofing. double glass, they are meant to be luxury cars and have all that comfort built in. the s coupe is known to be one of the quietest cars there is

S63 COUPE M157
I have removed my resonators and the car sounds 25-30% louder. Comfort mode is still very quiet, sport mode is loud enough. Highly recommended to anyone who doesn’t want to go for a full catback exhaust.

Thanks for this information. I have wondered the same as I generally don't hear much of a difference - if any. I have a 2017 S63 Cab 15k miles - if the car is idling and not moving, should I be able to hear a sound difference when I switch from comfort to sport mode? Thanks Much.
