MY2020 DOG

Reposting the prelim MY2020 DOG here, thanks to @RJC who posted it on some of the other W222/C217 subforums on MBWorld.

Only changes I notice for S63 MY2020 are the U88 AMG Drive Unit steering wheel buttons (a nice addition) and a new aerodynamics package (seemingly just an extended front splitter and thin trunk lip spoiler, not very exciting).

As expected the S65 is retired.

Unfortunately I think that is a cut-and-paste section about 4MATIC+ and does not accurately reflect actual "Drift Mode" on the S63. Exact same blurb was in the MY18/MY19 DOGs.

Best I know, AMG has only enabled drift mode on the E63S and GT63S. Believe the underlying hardware is all the same, so maybe so one can unlock it on a S Class via software ? Even without it, 4MATIC+ is an improvement from the 2015-2017 S63 which had a fixed rear-biased torque split, and only comfort or sport driving modes which determined the exhaust valve setting. There was no Sport+, Race, Launch Control, and no indecent control of the exhaust.

Back in late 2017, MBUSA Marketing told me:
AMG Performance 4MATIC+, the new system, is a totally different system with variable torque distribution. Previously we fixed torque distribution on the sedans to 33:67 Front:Rear. Now, this can be fully split to both axles depending on traction requirements. This is same system as in the E63 S, but does not have Drift Mode on the S-class (that would be uncouth):

I would like to know if autonomous driving level 3 or better is part of the MY 2020.

If so, I'll order it (with all the features I currently have + CCBs) and de-badge it. paws crossed. As we're keeping the current coupe and GLE, it'd be awesome to have that functionality for going to work and back, and then allow us to really customize the MY17 all the way.

I doubt it, surely they would have mentioned that in the DOG.

Unfortunately not sure the S Coupe will ever get Level 3 autonomous, MBUX, four wheel steering, etc. Only reason I think the U88 Drive Unit steering wheel buttons are now available is because the AMG GT63 has them, and it is probably cost effective for AMG to use the same steering wheels in both cars.

The S63 sedan will likely get these things when the new model is released, but sounds like the C217/A217 will carry on as is until it is discontinued. Rumors are the S Coupe and SL (which was in dire need for a full redesign five years ago) will be replaced by a new 2+2 model... if it is soft top only, which seems to be the trend, I have no interest in it.

thanks + sigh + agreed. A real coupe or nothing else from MB for me, which would be a shame.

Nope, see my earlier post about production start of MY2020. Only changes are some colors and U88 steering wheel buttons as an option.
