MY2020 C217 order spec
Maybe the lightest of surface marks in vinyl can self heal but it is nothing like PPF which is much tougher and thicker (therefore more labor to install) and can self heal all but deep surface scratches with heat. Vinyl is a great option for color change and will protect the underlying paint from bug droppings, water stains, etc and many have a hydrophobic outer layer that eases cleaning, but don't expect it to protect much from impacts by small rocks or other debris, which will tear the vinyl and if carrying enough energy will then chip the paint underneath. Also organic contaminants i.e. bugs, tar, paint overspray, etc can discolor the vinyl and anything petroleum based (gasoline, diesel, WD40, etc) will ruin it very quickly, often before you have a chance to clean it off.
I had disavowed black cars in the past, but modern ceramic coatings have changed everything. Upon delivery, I'll instruct the dealer to not touch the paint then have my detailer do any necessary factory paint correction, apply PPF to all impact areas, and then ceramic coat the hell out of the entire exterior.
Any comments/suggestions before I pull the trigger ? Pictures are from the MB German site, it is the 2020 model although they have yet to update the graphics to show the U88 steering wheel buttons.

My Brabus exhaust system and diffuser would look and sound epic on this one.
Enjoy in good health.
Haven't decided whether to do any mods, the refresh car has great throttle response, power, and sound in the S+ mode absent on the pre-2018 models. Mods are fun - but also void warranty, other than maybe catback.

Mercedes does not publish production numbers, but based on the allocations available throughout the USA, numbers for C217 seem MY20 very low. I'm sure there will be a few (mostly black on black, lightly optioned) inventory cars around in affluent markets but probably not too many. Interestingly only a few of the allocations had U88, and it could not be added to allocations without it despite them still being changeable. So if that is something you want make sure your dealer gets one with it already in the build.
Still set as magnetite black.

Scheduled to be built by the end of the month, but I'm still worried about what I experienced with MY19!!
I totally agree with you on the discount part, let's see what they will do with that one, it's a $211K MSRP.
Planing on wrapping the entire car in Xpel stealth again & installing the S65 Coupe lower mesh in black to have some protection to intercoolers.
I negotiated the 6.5% in advance. I'm a repeat customer and dealer has not even asked me for a deposit. I know they won't want to be sitting on a $203k MSRP car at year end, we'll see what else I can negotiate at the time

I think mine is scheduled to be built early November so might be here before end of year. Keep in touch with the progress on your car.

For some reason, when I placed the order I wasn't worried about the price knowing that they will take care of me at the time of the purchase.
I'll keep you posted.
