2016 S63 backfire
On a a side note, if you like the snap crackle and pop, you can actually get a ECU tune that will do just that and enhance the performance at the same time.
Or you can buy my Brabus valve control full exhaust. It does crackle and pop with valve open.
Good luck.

So I too am pretty disappointed in the lack of backfires in Sport mode. The ECU def downshifts aggressively like other AMGs with Sport+ mode, but there's def no backfire.
I didn't wanna get a burble tune cuz almost any car I've heard it on (MBs, BMWs, Hondas, etc) always sounds horrible in my opinion. Like a constant barrage of 10-20 backfires. Way too much. I want it to sound just like the OEM Sport+ mode on other AMGs.
Also, I was under the impression that the shutting a couple of cylinders was achieved by the Kristronics module in vehicles equipped with the AMG Performance Exhaust (which I don't think the pre-facelift C217 and A217 came with; at least it isn't shown when you decode the VIN).
But this thread makes me think that maybe the only difference between my exhaust and the Performance Exhaust is only for manually controlled exhaust valves/flappers (which I don't think the PFL C217 and A217 have)? If so, I assume it should be possible to get an exhaust (Burble) tune to sound just like the stock Sport+ mode? And maybe couple that with Redstar catless midpipes to make the exhaust sound louder?
TIA!

The popping sound is so annoying and trash. Why do people want their car to sound broken?
Its hard enough to get a classy girl to ride in a flashy car to begin with. Limit your choices 🤷🏼♂️

Some interesting facts...
- Everyone who sells "downpipes" for our application are actually selling midpipes
- The downpipes are SQUISHED and contoured to fit against the engine block, and as such, are very restrictive. Only way to change them out is to either pull the motor, or drop the subframe. You can see why from the pic below.
- The midpipe (that everyone sells) starts right past that, and is accessible from under the car.
Weistec actually sells a DP that'll fit the car (standard for all M157 engines I believe). "For the coupes/convertibles, the downpipes themselves bolt right on, but the midpipes may need modification to fit properly." They insist "midpipes from third parties are not compatible with our downpipes. The downpipes alone would require that you completely custom make midpipes. It is far easier to modify supplied midpipes than make whole new ones."
When you look at the photos they have of the side-by-side of the OEM DP vs their aftermarket DP, you can see why it's not compatible with other aftermarket MPs; their DP is much longer than the OEM unit.
In case anyone is ever interested, here's the product link to the DP + MP combo (MP will still require modification): https://www.weistec.com/m157-downpip...sedan-awd.html. +183 HP & +252 TQ increase with ECU tune. No slouch mod, that's for sure. But at $4400 for the parts alone + say another $500 for modifying the MP + labor for dropping the subframe (totally guessing; lets say a grand), at $6K, that ain't cheap... About $33/hp gain...
