2020 Coupe Not Starting After Eco Stop/Start
So this has happened twice now. I placed the brake on hold, the car shut off, and when I let off, the instrument cluster was lit up and I had the "Vehicle at Risk of Rolling Away" notification. I had to shut the car off and start it again in order to get it back to normal. Has anyone else had this issue?

I only drove for a 8-10 miles from the dealership to Eastside. That is insufficient data to comment. The coupe did switch off and one a few times.
I did get a text alert today that the charger battery is at critical state and remote service won't work until the car is driven for 30 min or more. I checked and there are no recalls. Yet.
Regardless, worth checking with the dealer anyway to avoid a trigger happy Kia or Prius rom rear ending you at a light or stop sign.

There are about a handful of similar reports from owners of various recent AMG models so far. There are at least 2 with a C63S, one with a GLC 63 and I don't remember the other ones, but it isn't an isolated case. They all have the same symptoms. ECO start/stop turns off the engine, and then it doesn't restart when they let off the brakes or step on the throttle. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts to restart the car manually. I think one person even had to get a tow. I remember one person posted that their dealer replaced the starter and that seemed to have fixed the issue. Most are having difficulty getting their dealer to do something about it, because there are no error codes, and of course the problem doesn't reveal itself while the car is in the shop, so they get the typical "Can't reproduce" response. It does look like there are a number of engines with defective starters. This might be a wider spread issue, but many may not know that their car has the problem, because like me, they turn off ECO start/stop right away. It's a stupid feature on a car like this, but that's another discussion.

Hi Luke,
Have you had a chance to check with you dealer? I'll check with my service go-to-guy Garrett tomorrow.
Best,
Dan

Things have been quite crazy here in NJ so I haven't been able to get on the forums recently. I have not checked with my dealer yet and hope to do so after all of the chaos subsides. I would appreciate any input that you could find on this issue. Thank you!

250 miles and no problem. My service guy is sick. Hope isn’t the nasty COVID-19...
I will call again tomorrow and see if he is back and if it’s a known issue with a fix.
stay healthy!

I was at the dealership today and asked a service adviser
about this problem (not the SA I normally deal with - out sick)
He said MB is aware of the problem and working on a software
update -
That being said I have a hard time with what random SA's tell me -
Quoting SuperSwiss - "This might be a wider spread issue, but many may not know that their car has the problem, because like me, they turn off ECO start/stop right away. It's a stupid feature on a car like this, but that's another discussion."
I could not agree more - a very stupid feature -
Thank-You

799 miles and the only problem is that my friend is sick. I can only hope it’s not the cursed COVID-19. He is young and rarely sick...
They get 4 days off and the beautiful dealership is on reduced skeleton crew and near empty. They are treated really well.
I do love the emotion srart. A silver lining.
What a shame.Good people get screwed so hard; can’t work from home.
stay healthy!

Eco start /stop—It’s just an incentive to finish break in and move to sport mode :-) where it stays off automatically

Is the problem fixed, Igor?
I had COVID-19 and was out of it for several weeks. Now back amount the living.
My biggest regret was not picking up SOF with D.B. but now I am glad. I would rather die than pass that deadly bug to a friend I respect and admire like D.B.
No clue how I got it but, I had one night where I almost signed out with a one way ticket to hell. There is goodness in everything. Thank goodness D.B., that special good man is not harmed by my COVID-19. Glad to be alive and typing while using my respirator just at night. Got used to it and it’s relaxing. Somewhat funny I almost ended vines an urn with dust and a bunch of titanium. Talk about luck...
Stay safe and healthy folks. This Fing bug is one big pain everywhere and it is all over the place. It’s a stupid way to die.
