First Merc, 16 S63 AMG?

Hi Everyone. I have owned over sixty cars and somehow never ended up in a Mercedes. I have been looking at 2016 S63 AMG 4Matics. Is there anything I should look out for on these cars as far as common problems or major maintenance items or intervals that are expensive? I realize this is not a cheap with a lot of tech parts.

Sam hell! Over 60?? Wow.

An S63 would be luxury and power mixed together......probably wouldn't be a regret to own one

I did a lot of reading online and there seems to be a lot of trans problems with these cars? Motor is fairly complicated as well..

Ah, yes, that would be a strong feeling of.......nope......
Is it CPO or have any ELW? (extended limited warranty).

Yes, one of the most complex M-B vehicles. The S-Class is arguably the most complex M-B platform, and the M157 engine in the S63 is complex in that it is a high performance twin turbo V8.

The W222 in general gets good feedback on this site. Air suspension is something to be mindful of.

AMGs eat brakes and tires, this is a near universal comment on this site.

The M157 engine was used in several vehicle platforms successfully, and is based on the lower performance M278 which also was used widely. There have been comments regarding failed valve guides (repairable big job) and scuffed piston bores (fatal, to my knowledge) with these engines near or over 100k miles, search this site. If you purchase this vehicle, consider either supplying lots of cash and time in repairs at a dealer or indy shop, or to have the time, tools, garage space, know-how and desire to DIY.
