2018 or 2019 AMG S65 Coupe - I want that needle in a haystack

I’m looking for a used one. And I think I’ll be looking for a long time.

Looking for a used 2018 or used 2019 coupe only S65. Unfortunately I would never buy a matte painted finish, which eliminates some candidates right off the bat.

Can any folks comment on just how rare these are, how often they tend to come about into the marketplace, and possibly provide production numbers on the S65 coupe by model year?

Any current owners wish to share their experience?

I own a 2019 S65 coupe. I ordered mine 9and did European delivery) since there were very few S65 coupes available for sale. At the end of 2019 I found out later that MBZ only sold 35 2019 S65 coupes and two were still available for sale. (Total 37 2019 S65 coupes. That's it!) So yes, they are rare. Not sure how many 2018s were sold, but i'm speculating not much more than that. reason being is that the power upgrade on the 2018 S63 coupe (along with many other upgrades) were significant, closing the power gap between the 63 and the 65. The refreshed 63 was more of a performance car (with launch control, all wheel drive, exhaust by pass switch etc) while the 65 was much more luxury. (rear wheel drive, more power and torque, magic body control, etc). Since most buyers preferred the performance and no longer needed the 65 to get it, the 63 sales increased while the 65 sales suffered. That said, either version will be amazing, but the 65 in my opinion is truly special. (There is no substitute for that glorious V12). I hope you find one you like. Post pictures when you do. Good luck.

never seen one. a matte needle in a haystack.
easy answer for your problem; any car with normal gloss clear paint can become matte. Wrap with matte clear paint protection film. Many people do it and dealers do it to new cars

Thank you.

I think you mis-read my post- I am not interested in matte in any variant.

Incidentally, there is a matte white new 2019 still available.

FYI...A normal wrap on a matte car will make it shine. Not like a normal shine but somewhere between matte and normal

or you can buff a matte painted car and it will go glossy.
We experimented with matte clear coat alot. You can take any part and swap from gloss to matte, back an forth with matte and gloss clears. And it goes back and forth . And the same with the PPF films, you can put glossy or matte on any painted car and it will transform it to the PPF .
All base coat colors are the same. The only thing that makes the 2 different finishes is the clear coat, and it can be either a gloss or a matte. The bad thing about matte clear, it can only go on once, perfect. If there is any imperfection, it is perminate or it hads to be redone.
And any nick or scratch or mark ; the whole panel has to be repainted, you cannot do any rubbing or buffing or even waxing. Or it will make it go glossy.

Update!

I am happy to announce I am the proud new owner of a pre-loved Certified 2019 Mercedes-AMG S65 Coupe!

She is in outstanding condition with just under 5k miles. I swore I would never own a black car but I made an exception for this one because of the rarity and the outstanding condition. Will keep my eyes open for Designo Diamond White Metallic, Iridium Silver, or Selenite Gray.

There is one word that defines this car: Beast.

2019 S65 coupe

From a reliable source, Mercedes only sold about 35 2019 S65 coupes. This info was relevant at the end of 2019. Since it only counted actual sales and since there were about 3 unsold 2019 S65 coupes at the time, the true number by now is about 38. Maybe a few more that I was not aware of. Anyway you look at it, the 2019 S65 coupe is very rare. Mine is black on black with the same wheels and chrome. I love mine. It looks amazing, has a beautiful presence on the road, drives like a dream and in my opinion is the best ultra luxury grand touring vehicle out there. It’s a shame they discontinued the V12s and even bigger shame they discontinued the S-Coupe. I have no plans on ever selling mine. Enjoy and welcome to a very exclusive group of lucky owners.

Thank you. Yes, very rare car.

I hadn’t been aware of your sentiment that you would never be selling yours; and I actually tried contacting you a few different ways to see if the car I was looking at (and eventually bought) was your previous car since it seemed to be a match in the same location. Although I didn’t hear back from you I found out later this wasn’t your car.

Cool! What color?

I’ve been looking around for one of those… only two I’ve seen have been an Obisidian Black one and a Mocha Black one… I prefer not to have black (since my coupe is already black and black exteriors aren’t my thing).

I don’t know the answer to your question but my educated guess is they brought in around 20-30 S65 cabs for 2019. That is a VERY rare car.

Pappy1225 - Congratulations on your 19 S65 Cab. Fantastic car. My un-educated guess is that Mercedes sold about the same number of S65 Cabs as coupes (Only about 38 S65 coupes were sold in 2019). In 2017, the last year before the refresh, Mercedes shipped many S65 CABs to the U.S. and dealers kind of got stuck with them. After the refresh, the S63 increased in power and had many improvements further reducing demand for the S65s. The refreshed versions are MUCH improved, so any S560, S63, S65 of any variant is much better after the refresh. Please post pictures
