Please Unpack — Top Speed on US-spec AMG S65 Coupe 2018-2019?

I can’t find the 2018 or 2019 dealer ordering guides for the S-coupes (which would include the AMG variants) anywhere.

I am unclear on whether the “AMG Driver’s Package” was offered in the US. I am under the impression that it was not offered; that the top speed is NOT electronically limited to 155mph; and that the US-spec S65 Coupe by default will reach 186mph.

The AMG Owner’s Manual supplement which is available online does NOT mention electronically limited top speed. Instead, it lists the top speed as 186mph as it indicates the vehicle speeds in gears 1-7.

Can folks with concrete information please help unpack this? Please provide promary source material for reference.

Thanks,
David

186 MPH (300 kph) is electronically limited. It's because the tires they use are rated to 186. I think all S65s are limited to 186. My W220 was and I doubt they ever dropped that. The car has a 220 mph speedometer.

Unlimited it will get close to 200.

Thank you. My error - I was imprecise about the 186mph. Yes- if it goes 186mph that’s because it’s limited to that speed.

So there’s no 155mph limiter on the car, then? That’s good news.

I can confirm that on the sticker for my new 2021 S63 I am picking up tomorrow has code:

251 Top speed raised to 186 mph

So yes the US car will go 186mph.

Sedan, coupe, or convertible? US car?

Wow Mercedes is making the AMG S63 for the 2021 model year? I thought the current S-class was finished beyond model year 2020.
