Night View Assist Plus

I'm sitting down going over the options for my build. I test drove a car with NVA+ and the salesman raved over what it could do. But I'd rather ask an unbiased audience. Now I ask, what do you use it for?

For anyone out there with the feature, is it worth the $2200+ or is it just the cool factor? Are there any situations in which it is indispensable and has changed the way you drive? (For example, I think Keyless Go has changed the way I drive and would never go back to fumbling with keys again)

Thanks in advance for the information.

I have the option. Its probably one of the coolest things I've ever used honestly, and I could see it being helpful in a few, very improbable situations, but if I was spec'ing my own car (mine was bought off the lot) I probably wouldn't spend the $2200. Its a great trick to show your friends, but besides that, the little bit of lag/weird POV makes it pretty terrifying to drive looking at it only (I've tried) and its out of view while your actually driving, so I don't really see it saving my life on an unlit street anytime soon.

Thanks cdupont. Good information.

A few nights ago, I was driving down an interstate near a wooded area and saw the signs for deer crossing. I thought that would be a perfect scenario for the option, but I don't drive in situations like that often.

I have a similar system on my BMW and I agree with the other posts. In my case, I live in an area without the greatest lighting and lots of deer and other critters. I use it all the time and its very worth while for me. The first night I had the car I tried it and sure enough, it allowed me to see a deer that was out of the range of the brights.

I know the Mercedes system works a little differently from the BMW system but I've found when it gets very humid or warm the system isn't as effective.

In my case its turned into a near must have but I'm not sure that will universally be the situation.

save your money, it suppose to come up on display when sees moving animal or human figure, but its a hit and miss deal, sometimes it works mostly does not.
i could never look at the screen and drive my car tht way, is it cool, hell yeah..., but it is not practical, does it increase your cars resale value, may be and how much???

it's way better than the 2011 I had.....(E class)
it flashes the pedestrians, and activates automatically while you're driving even if it isn't on....and the red highlights work really well....it's a great feature IMO, and yes: it's cool too LOL

Well worth it... I have it on my E63 and ML550. It has picked up runners at night in the rain dressed in all black (who does that?) and many deer in my area, among other areas.

Have it never 'used' it beyond showing it off to others in the car ... if I drove out in the country, I could see just keeping it active
