Hey guys, does anyone know any changes that will be made to the 2016 S63? Not sure if I should order a '15 or wait for the '16? Also anyone know a release date for the '16?
I asked this same question yesterday at a dealership and the short answer is they do not seem to know.
The 2016 S DOG was released a few weeks ago (not the S AMG specific DOG, which should be available soon) and as far as S class wide changes, there are a few (two new paints, one discontinued paint; a few new trims and some standard equipment). If you want a Palladium Silver S63, you'll have to order it now.
If you check these boards, some people seem to think the 2016 S AMG will get a new steering wheel (replacing the two spoke model found on all S sedan models in the US with a more aggressive 3/4 spoke steering wheel already available in the EU). I'm hoping so.
As far as availability, my dealer said that if ordered today, it would be available "July or August". Again, I say take that with a grain of salt. Prices are not confirmed nor are the options available, so I don't know if it's false precision to give such dates. More likely, that's when they will start being produced and MY 16 cars should start reaching dealerships by September.

Really like the Selenite Grey Metallic but won't be available until Oct 2016 ; <
I ordered a 2015 S63C4 on 12/17/14. The build got delayed because the company making the carbon fiber couldn't meet the demand. Then, MB stopped producing 2015's (S550's & S63's)... So, my order got changed to a 2016 and then further delayed when they still couldn't get the carbon fiber!
Now they finally have it, my order got a VIN on 6/11/15, set to be built 07/1D, delivered early August. 'bout FKNG TIME!!
Information on the '16 S63s is starting to trickle in. My dealer stated that MB is building only the '16 cars now, although it seems that there are a few unaccounted for '15 S63s still reaching the ports.
I've worked through the options with the dealer and think I may have settled on a final build. That said, I may wait to see what selenite looks like on a larger car (luckily, I'm not in a rush).
I did ask about the steering wheel for the '16 model and got the attached photo from the dealer. He wasn't willing to confirm until the DOG is released, but he's pretty sure that's what we'll see.
Looks like we have to wait for 2017 S63 model. No changes to that stupid two spoke steering wheel or any other changes. There are couple of 2016 S63 sedan in production and the steering wheel remains same.
Looks like Your dealer is just guessing. Tell him to show you written document where it shows changes.

Argh, that sucks.
I also sucks if you are going to have to change your name. Let's hope that S63AMG2017 is not taken!

He was guessing and I made sure and confirmed that. We did all the specifications for a 2016 S63 build, but I wanted to hold off until we confirmed the steering wheel. The photo was not proof, just what he expected. We now know that his guess was incorrect.
I have heard from other members that their dealers are also saying there is a 4 spoke wheel. Have you seen the 2016 S AMG DOG?
No 2016 S AMG DOG so far ....wonder why there is a delay in releasing the DOG

Looks like AMG has heard us...check out mbusa.com....S63AMG now has a new three spoke steering. Now who wants to wait for the facelift ? Is there any other major things you are waiting to happen in the facelift that is preventing you to pull the trigger now ?

My 2016 S63 is at the port. No release date yet. The Warmth and Comfort package now forces the 314 steering wheel which is 3 spoke flat bottom wood/leather.
I just received my 2016 S63 and traded in my 2015 S550. Mine is loaded, but the differences I see are the added options in the heads up display and a different font.
By the way ... love the car ... firm ride, great feel, wonderful fit and finish. Mine is the
Diamond White with the black wheels ... very striking.
