2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ECU dyno tune; EDOK TCU tune; BB intakes; sprintbooster
Car and driver got 3.7

Maybe they know how to launch it better

put the car in dyno mode and try again with a brake stall of 2500-3000

I just test drove a 15' s63 yesterday, and I have to admit, was disappointed on the acceleration (all modes selected properly for get up and go). It did not "feel" any faster than my 13' F02 to 60 mph. It's only after 80 mph is when you feel all the horses/torque move this car. I hope someone can figure this out since I am contemplating on getting one.

I'm considering a purchase of an s8. How do you compare it to the s63? Is the s8 a better driving vehicle? Thanks. Regards. Ned.

S8 is a definitely better performer, acceleration, brakes (CCBS), handling, really a more driver's car.
S63, beside transmission being a bit disappointing, is a high performance limo, comfort vs S8 Plus is on a much higher level, especially in the back seat and overwhelms S8 in tech, Audi really needs an update, it's tech is at least 5 years behind.
I'm not a tech junkie, don't care about the gizmos, don't carry more then 1 passenger so decided to go for "driver experience".
Although, if had a need to have more then 1 passenger even occasionally, S63 would be definitely my choice.

Did anyone ever figure out why this S63 is not launching better? Its odd as the E63 uses same engine and transmission and seems to do much faster times.

Launch control was probably removed because of the additional torque output on the S63 which may harm the transmission. This is why i think its risky to use launch control feature on a tuned E63 putting out over 700 wtq.

Despite having the 7g-MCT, the S63 (sedan and coupe) lack launch control. AMG deliberately left this feature out for some reason, as other models with an identical drivetrain i.e. CLS63 and E63 do have it.

I would think launch control can be emulated to some degree by enabling dyno mode (to turn off ECT), then starting the car, enabling S mode, and brake torquing to maybe 2000 rpm.
I assume the MCT wouldn't be too happy launching the weight of a S class.

these amg cars all have some significant torque reduction dialed in to the tcu for first gear to protect the wet clutch and trans

I had them do their tune on it and the car was certainly faster but from a dead stop it was still terrible. I took it into the dealer complaining about that and also that it has just shut off on my 3 times while driving. They did two updates, one for the transmission and one for the engine. By doing that they removed the Renntech tune so now it is back to stock with all updates done and it is still terrible off the line. I put my VBOX Sport in it and I am between 4.8 and 5.0 seconds to 60. This is so far off the advertised times that I really think there is something wrong. Also my VBOX is always on the money. My R8 V10 Plus 3.2 seconds, my friends S8 3.8 seconds, so it is accurate and we aren't talking about being off by a tenth here, it's about a second slow to 60 which is huge. Any help or advise from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
did you ever new whats the problem of your car i have the same problem

I solved the issue, since AMG choose to do NOTHING and ignore the issue after false advertising. I traded the car for a 2018 BMW M6 Grand Coupe upgraded to 600hp, its a beast!! I am so pissed at Mercedes.

oh did you notice they are now advertising the new S63 at 0-60 in 3.4, don't hold your breath!!

Possible Solution to mercedes AMG S63 acceleration lag, slow 0 to 60

The link below explains a possible solution to the Mercedes S63 and other AMG cars acceleration lag, slow launch, slow 0 to 60.
Mercedes MCT transmission slow launch, acceleration lag can possibly be helped
