Pics of my engine air filters- You may want to check yours!
My car goes in for a Service B shortly and I thought I’d do the cabin and engine filters myself- they’re super easy to do, it saves me about $200 and most importantly I know they were actually DONE.
These are both engine filters from my 2014 63 with 52k miles. The car has a service record longer than my divorce decree (all done by MB) but I’m almost certain they’ve never been touched. I’ve changed plenty of filters and have never seen any like this. What you see is the filters themselves and then the debris in the filter housing after I simply turned the filters over....no shaking, bending or tapping, just an easy flip and that’s what came out. Once I hit them against a brick wall another significant amount came out (obviously).
And, the cabin filters dropped out enough dust to require a serious vacuum the second I opened the cover that holds them in place.
Check your filters guys!!! All 4 can be replaced/checked in 30-40 min taking your time.
