Mercedes me connect
Just got a used 2020 S63. Couple questions on the phone apps.
1. Why 2 apps? Mercedes Me and Mercedes Me Connect?
2. When I tried to add my vehicle by just inputting the VIN, it said my VIN is on someone else's account. Called the number listed on app and it went to someones voicemail. Tried to do the scan of QR code in MBUX, but instructions in app were unclear and couldn't work my way through the menus to find a QR code.
Guess I have to go to the dealership to sort it out?

1. Mercedes me is for 2018 and older model years that use the old mBrace platform. Mercedes me connect is the new platform for model years 2019+. mBrace is end of life. Mercedes me connect has new features such as over-the-air updates etc.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
I had to go to the dealership to get my Mercedes Me Connect switched over in my 2019 S63. They had to see proof of ownership before they would switch the VIN in the system.

Correct. You can't just setup the services for a random VIN. Otherwise anybody could take over somebody else's cars. Ownership has to be established first, and then they will switch the VIN to the new owner.
