I've wanted a fully loaded S63 and found on in Georgia for sale. It's a 2018 white with black interior.
First question is if the previous owner would be on this forum. The car was bought in Georgia in 2018 but registered in Alabama until this past summer.
Next thing is does anybody have any advice on buying a car like that? I paid to have a pre purchase inspection performed, and the inspector didn;t find anything major wrong with the cars, just 3 minor things. 1. uneven front bumper to front fender gaps on right hand side of car. 2. sticky seat button in center console (like somone spilled something sticky on the button) but it works properly. 3. slight crack in the touchpad, but it seems to work fine.
He even ran his paint thickness tester and didn;t see any signs of additional paint anywher on the car. The Carfax came back clean, with good service history. Thanks to Superpop here in Seattle for taking me on a test drive of his 2019 S63.
I'm flying in to take a look at it and sign the paperwork on Tuesday. Any suggestions or thoughts before I sign on the dotted line?
Thanks,
Carlos

Make sure they include both sets of keys if they have them. The autotrader ad is also a little deceptive as it indicates Rear Executive + but this car has Rear Executive only with no full length center console or tables. Not a huge deal but not sure if you are aware of that. Good luck with the purchase!

Bought a 2019 s63 sedan two months ago. Besides squealing noise from rotors, no other issues on car. Swapped the rotors and pads and noise gone. Many guys on the forum helped me in the process, superpop included. Make sure the rotors and pads are tip top and hopefully it's certified pre owned.

Thanks for taking a look at the details. I definitely don't want the center divider. I really like the lok of the ambient light bar/strip that goes across the top of the rear seats.

I wish it was a CPO, but for a similar mileage range I'd be paying around $20K+ more for the car. I bought my S550 as a CPO and I'm very glad I did, nothing major, just peace of mind.
For perspective; I owned a 2001 S600 V12, bought it with 30K miles non-CPO. BIG MISTAKE! That ownership experience pushed me away from MB for more than a decade. The newer generation of cars are far more reliable. I can deal with the cost of maintenance, I just feel nervous about big repair bills like I had on my S600. The newer ones, W222, have far fewer problems than the older cars, W220. Back then we had al kinds of problems to deal with.
Carlos get your hands on a VMI from the dealership. It will tell all manner of tales as to what the car has had done, Warranty history ect.
My only other advise.... Get an S-65 with Carbon Ceramic brakes. Outfit in Bellevue has a white one with CCB they have been sitting on since.... Last year or so. Bet they are ready for it to find another home. Your money. Your choice.

What is a VMI? If it's the records, the only thing available are the carfax records, I've asked already?
Can't do an S65, I need AWD for trips to the cabin in Montana
Might try to make the switch to CCB afterwards. Superpop added ceramic brake pads and says there's practically no brake dust. He has black wheels so it's probably harder to notice brake dust.

VMI.... Vehicle Master Inquiry. Supply a VIN to anyone with XENTRY (you should have this) and it can be printed out.
If AWD is a requirement you are stuck with the bent eight. Not exactly a penalty box.... the bent-12 is just that much nicer.
S-63’s can be found with CCB. Worth the effort. Lot of dough to do after the fact.

Carlos you may be pleasantly surprised at how capable a rear driver is in the snow with proper footwear. Real snow tires are readily available for the fourth season. I used Continental DWS 06 tires year round and only had issues when I high centered the car on the 2’ snow drift that liked to accumulate across the driveway at the Lynden house. The DWS 06 is an all season tire. Real winter tires are much better. Worth considering. That white S-65 at Park Place is one you really should drive.... but beware.... AMG Crack! First hit is free.
Update: I bought the white 2018 S63. It didn't sell on their lot so they put it up on one of the dealer only auction sites. I had a local dealer buy it and ship it for me. I wound up paying around $1K more for it by the time everything was calculated in, but it saved me from the hassle of arranging shipping and the angst of the pending transport. After three days I have a few observations:
The car drives and rides much smoother than I thought it would, especially at hgihway speeds. The first S63 I drove felt "rough" at any setting, this car is super smooth, even feels smoother than my 2017 S550, it might have something to do with bent rims on my previous car.
The power is ridiculous! The tires broke loose around 60 mph on the upshift from 2nd to 3rd gear. It was slightly wet outside when I punched it, but still, that's amazing!
The ambient lighting is not as bright as I thought it would be, especially around the instrument cluster. I guess my 2017 had really bright LED's. I looked at a couple other cars from the same gen and my car matches them, so it's not a problem with the car.
The car has the 3D Burmester system, I thought the overhead midrange in the front of the cabin had lights like the other overhead speakers, but it doesn't. Lighting is SUPER important to me, lots of dark days in Seattle in the winter.
The seats feel absolutely amazing! I thought that upgraded leather only changed the look but these seats feel so much better that my 2017 with the standard leather.
I LOVE the additional graphics in the updated Comand system, especially car dynamics. Fun to see how much HP and TQ I'm using in real time.
Comand system is pretty laggy, too bad. It looks great and works well, but the lag is kind of off-putting.
I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, not Pilot Sport AS tires...ouch!!! This partially explains the wet weather handling, which isn't that great. They were installed in May of 2022 and have 7/32 or 8/32.
Also just found how there aren't many tire options out there, I wanted to change to Conti DWS06+ next year, because they have great wet weather traction but they aren't an option. Wet handling is important because the roads are always wet for months here in Seattle.
Only three things on my to-do list:
Fix the front passenger mud flap, and maybe mold a couple for a couple other guys on the forum. Might not get to that for a couple months.
Increase the interior lighting. Sorry guys, I might go the route of the kids and do the ambient lighting in the vents. Definitely going to do something to increase the brightness of the LED's around the instrument cluster.
Haggle with myself over the next 30 days about buying an extended warranty. I'm open to any suggestions or reports about how things went with your cars around the 40K mileage mark and what you would do. My car has 37K miles on it now.
The car had fewer miles than the dealer had listed on the sale site, so that was a bonus. I'm loving the driving experience with the car, only wish I had gone an S63 instead of the S550 when I came back to MB last year. Hoping for many many happy and trouble free miles to come.

Reason: Tire update
Congrats! Which brake pads did the other gentlemen get you alluded to? I was quoted about $16,500 6 years ago to swap out my red brakes for the gold CCB's so I though maybe one day I'd just upgrade the brake pads for around $1000 or so. Still haven't done it, the stock pads create so much dust but stop so so well.
I LOVE MY CAR even though I rarely drive it anymore. We're mostly driving my wife's new car and my little car. The S63 is in a garage 14 minutes away by foot. Long story. We only have a 2 car garage. I wanted an S65 too but couldn't afford it 6 years ago when I bought my car new and really wanted AWD as I live in the Northeast. I'm sure snow tires work well on an S65 but, I wasn't interested at the time.

Hi Stever, the member was Superpop, here's the thread he posted: https://mbworld.org/forums/s63-amg-s...18-2020-a.html
I think they are Powerstop Z23 pads or something. I've only had my car a couple weeks and the brake dust is rediculous. It was terrible on my S550, worse than any car I had ever owned...until I got the S63. Now I see why black wheels make so much sense...

Thank you. Yeah, the brake dust is horrible without ceramic pads. One day... I guess, I'll buy them. I'm cheap and lazy about it, I just clean them, obsessively, till then.
Nice! Post pictures and pictures when you do the vent lights. I thought about it but only changed the vents on my E63 and kept the S63 "classy/stock".
I've had luck with powerstop (besides the rear) eliminating dust on a w212. Putting them on the W213 since it gets more mileage than the garage queen S63.
Check the AMG track pace for history if you care or do your own laps/drag. I am still amazed that this car does ~3.1-3.4 0-60.
Finally got around to having it detailed, nice cool sunny day for pictures. Not the best lighting, car was parked under a tree right after it was cleaned.
Looks great, love that color combo, the red calipers pop. Looks like a white version of mine.
Thanks for taking me on a cruise in your car. You also gave me a bunch of information to help me make a better decision on an S63. I really love driving this car!! My S550 was georgeous inside and out, probably nicer looking than my S63. I don't think the prevoius owner of the S550 I owned had it tuned, but it had more than enough power. Part of the problem was it felt like the motor was more than the suspension could handle, I don't have that problem at all with the S63. The updated tech going from MY17 to MY18, extra options in the new car, and the upgraded drivetrain, makes this car much better! Couldn't be happier
