The goal is to go above and beyond

Hello all,

I am glad to have a responsive community! Thanks for those you responded to my last post about Dyno, still need to figure it out somehow.

As of now, the car is technically stage 1. Not sure if it is okay to sharing the company so I will leave it at that. The power is noticeable. The car sounds aggressive because of muffler delete + burble. The burble could be more meatier but then again, I need to get down pipes and an exhaust. The car has been running perfectly. It drinks oil A LOT.

Some issues -
1. Engine light - since I have drove the car, it has a weird engine light - it will turn off as I use the car? But most of the time it is showing. Not sure what it could entail.

2. Ticking noise front left tire - I have tried revolved the wheels and I do not hear it but when I drive from 10-30mph it is so annoying to hear it. I was thinking it was a screw or something making the sound but can not find anything. Could be expired run flat? If anyone has an opinion on this, let me know!

3. Car turned off twice on me - had a full 10 hrs with the car. Was on sports mode most the day. Had added 5W-40 oil because the engine oil message came. Maybe it could driving it a lot that day? The car basically was going 70mph at 5th gear in sports mode, when I brake it downshifted and had a bunch of burble pops and car proceeded to turn off power to the engine. The dashboard is still normal and no bad lights (engine light was already on).. bring the car to the side of the highway safely and wait to put hazard on. On complete stop, all dash board lights turn on. I turn off car and wait 2-3 mins and then turn car back on and in comfort mode. Drove 30-40 mins after in comfort, nothing abnormal.

4. Charging… maybe the ports are old.. is there a way to upgrade to usb-c? I will need to look into this.

5. New infotainment system? Is it possible to install? Would be so cool.. plus car play….

The good parts-
1. Car is stupidly fast. I love it. I don’t have space to drive…. Which is a good issue. In comfort mode, I am cruising. In sports mode, I am sports cruising. I don’t expect to be the fastest car. I know this s class is gorgeous. Speed isn’t everything for me. The sound, the look, the interior, it is all in all an amazing car.

2. Speed isn’t everything for me… but this is a start to something much bigger. Downpipes, exhaust, turbos…. I need to learn and slowly add them. I want this car to be a sleeper.. it’ll be fun to do that

Further questions -
1. Does anyone have recommendation for wheels? I am stuck between HRE MRR wheels in bronze, TE37’s, and the 18inch monoblock dish amg wheels from back in the day. They all look like amazing wheels honestly. Should I even go for the TE or monoblock considering they are small? The HRE MRR wheels are 22 inch

2. I need to also find a lowering module and see where I can go to get the car fitted properly. It sits “okay” right now but ideal I want it to sit a little lower without any driving compromise along with the button module.

3, last question… what is your opinion on de-blacking the details of the car and putting a matte bronze detail instead? I think it would look clean if done properly but I am wary about it.

My TikTok is Six3beau and instagram too. I have my pictures and videos on there! I look forward to talking to you all and learning this process. I will always help anyone as I learn and become an expert. I love cars and want to eventually be able to do cool things like install downpipes or put spark plugs on…

Don't worry about aesthetics like wheels and trim until you get the motor sorted. I would start with a good quality OBD reader specific to MB. Figure out what is wrong with the car and fix that first. The clicking could be bad wheel bearings, had that on my 2019 S63. No chance on infotainment system, it is super integrated into the car and would cost more than the car is worth to upgrade everything needed. Better off just getting a carplay unit and using what you have. USB ports could be bad fuses, check those. If it is drinking a lot of oil it is either being burned or going somewhere, the M157 engine is known to have issues with cylinder scoring and also engine sensor harnesses that let oil migrate through the harness and to the computer modules in the car. Non of this is good and can cause the oil consumption you mention. How many miles are on this car.

OP skip the cheap OBD reader. Do yourself a favor and get with BenzNinja. Buy the computer and related with a membership. This will pay for itself the first time you don’t have to blow an unneeded thousand dollar bill at the dealership. XENTRY is the only way to query your car correctly. Peter can help with many software tricks you will love. Lowering among them.

The car is at 76,450miles right now. I will definitely look into and an OBD reader for the Benz. The engine light was off after I cleaned the car and did not turn on until I used it for a decent push (20-30 mins constantly in 3rd-4th gear just testing out the power). And very good point on the wheel bearings, I have asked my contact at benz to also look at that when I get it serviced. I told him I want to make sure the car is in the best condition prior to adding the down pipes. Thanks a lot for this info as it gives me a better idea on what I need to get done.

Your car looks superb btw! I was on the road cruising and an m5 2019 decided to test their acceleration… let’s just say my car somehow kept up but your car most definitely would. Not that these cars are meant to be driven that way. They feel amazing cruising at 80mph on 5th gear. The rumbling from the exhaust, it just feels amazing.
