Tire Options for 2019/2020 S63 sedan
Looking for input on non-high performance tires to replace the current Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Reason being that it gets cold in New Jersey and the current tires cannot be exposed to 20F without getting damaged/compromised.
I do not wish to go extreme all-season but want something in-between which can handle low temperatures and would permit me to drive in winter when temperatures are in 20s.
Also, the wheels are 20 inch and tires are 285/35, is it possible to use higher profile (i.e. greater than 35 or 40) tires or is the space in the wheel well inadequate? It is ok if speed rating is lower, no plan to exceed 130mph ever.

Good luck!

Otherwise you can go to grand touring all season, which I don't recommend for an S63.

You can also call Discount Tire or Tire and Rack and see what they say is possible. And just about anything is "possible" if you want to do it, but staying within spec will protect your car's cuspension components.

Can you fit a 19” wheel over the brakes? If so go that route with a tire that makes the same overall diameter as standard. Taller sidewall helpful with potholes and frost heaves.
I really enjoyed the Continental DWS-06 on the 221 S-65. They are excellent in rain and surprisingly good in snow.

How do I close this thread? I wish to start another on wheel alignment - got some strange responses from service manager at M-B dealership.
