Holy blind spot batman

Saw the AMG GT sedan this weekend at Quail and although the car looks good there are a few items I noticed like the huge blind spot and I mean huge.

Also the Buick style fake vents on the side of the car look pretty freaking horrible and have no place on a $200k car.

This is bad, like very very bad. Haven’t seen something so cheap looking on a car since late 90’s Hyundai

A big blind spot would worry me, did not buy original Panamera because of it.

Hopefully the rear view mirrors are really good. Seems like cars designed with such a large blind spot should take advantage of cameras to provide the driver with a complete view of what is to the sides of them.

Agree 100% on those faux vents... that's frankly embarrassing on a car like this AMG. Looks like there is a depression in the fender for them too, meaning they can't just be removed without looking weird. I seem to remember seeing a hybrid prototype where the charge ports were in this location, maybe they will be functional when the GT 73 comes out.

the blind spots are mostly an issue when changing lanes.

anyways the vents just make no sense at all even if they are for the GT73. This is still a $200k car at the end of the day. I’m surprised anyone would buy one with those on the car.

That's my issue, I usually change lanes a lot, since roads (even a 4 lane) are becoming more like obstacle courses with idiots cruising at steady 55 regardless if it is snowing or dry like a desert in 72F sunshine.

Fake vents are the worst! Also, a lot of people don't have the mirrors set properly: if you can see the side of your car in your mirrors, then they're not facing far enough out.

Thanks!

Other than cosmetics I’m not getting it... it’s priced far too high and doesn’t offer enough with its current power train to justify the move. My e63 with a $2000 time will far and away be the sweet spot. I’ve even driven the new m5 and up here it’s a bit cheaper and like all of you that moved I will acknowledge that the daily “comfort” ride is spectacular but the rest of the car seems bland to me. Bottom line is I think the gt4 will probably come into its own as a 73 with its own dedicated drivetrain to separate it from the other 63 drivetrains. Then and only then will the value present itself. As it stands now it’s an e63 with a weird shade of lipstick on and wearing a designer gown. Just my 2c. Thanks for listening lol...

Pics don’t do this car justice. Drive it, see it in person, and experience it before writing it off. I think it will change your mind. It’s a large car to say the least...but it really moves. This is coming from someone with a stable of high powered vehicles, including a 1,000+ HP truck

I agree. I also have a 2018 S63 tuned and 2018 R8 tuned. This is a great mix of both. It’s a solid car and the performance and the drivability of this car are outstanding. With a stage 2 tune and turbo upgrade it is getting a little over 900 hp at the crank and 0-60 in 2.8. I could care less about the fake vents or the blind spot. That’s not my reason for buying or not buying a car. The raw performance and the drivability of this 4 door super car are.

It's still just an E63 in a suit...literally.

But I get it, badge this as a CLS63 and sell it for $8k more than an E63, or badge it is a GT 4-Door and charge $50k more. AMG was drooling when they saw Panamera profit margins and wanted a piece of the pie.
