GT 63s Driving Impression
Had some seat time today with a friend at the dealer with the GT 63s.
Rocket on the streets and pulls HARD on the freeway. Surprised it’s weights as much as mine S63. Corners like it’s on rails, but too stiff for me as a daily.

Who would want to buy THAT car now that you put miles on it? That’s a serious gamble by the dealer to allow someone to test it out.
Btw, I’ve never taken a test drive on the highway nor done any spirited driving on a test drive

To me and I’m sure I speak for a few handful of folks. Who would want to buy a 170-180k car without knowing how it drives? I’m glad I did before realizing it is not for me or my family as a daily driver.
You honestly don’t think the guys at the VPC, trucker or porter at the dealer who has to drive to the gas station to get gas or a sales man who is doing a dealer trade doesn’t get on it when he has a chance is delusional. Just saying man.

The GT63 looks like they took a E63s, GT, CLS, and an S63 and put it in a blender. It’s design just looks lost to me. As if it’s trying too hard to belong somewhere in between these cars. It has the great tech and performance of these cars but it looks like a desperate cut and paste job just to be on the market design wise.
As far as test driving “special” cars, I refrain from doing it too, just to see what it’s like or If i was bored roaming the dealership. I do it out of respect for the serious buyer. I cringe at people test driving these higher end cars only because you’d want the person signing the check to have somewhat of a new, non beat on car.,

IMO the rear quarter panel with the wing just doesn’t look right. The curves and humps with a tacked on wing just doesn’t work, something seems off or like it’s trying too hard. Kind of hodge podged together in design.

The crazy thing is, and the one thing I don’t understand Mercedes doing, is giving these cars like the GT4 and E63 variants such ****ty street compliance. I wouldn’t buy one simply for that reason alone.

I would be very surprised if the engines in the GT cars aren’t run hard on the dyno before being placed in the chassis at the factory, as there is a hp/lb ft minimum that each engine surely has to produce? I don’t believe it hurts the average high performance vehicle much at all if wound out a little on a test drive as long as the temps have normalised. It’s up to the dealer rep to make sure this occurs though, so obviously caveat emptor.

Why is my GTS Edition 1 wing on a sedan .... I know its not exactly the same but a shopping car spoiler on a sedan is ehhhhhhhh
This car will sit and sit like the Jupiter Red next to it. Lets face it, if the MSRP is 175k or so- at triple net the car is still 154k- why why why get it when a brilliant E63S is worth it 115k with a good but fair discount.
Disclaimer: I did see the car on the road a week or so back and it didnt have the park bench spoiler; the car had some presence no doubt. The price point has no business IMHO.

He broke it in Cutter; its ok no one will buy the car anyways. Maybe now the dealer will take some more off the msrp due to "miles"

Up here we are seeing single units delivered to the odd client by special order only. There is no inventory at all available for immediate sale. I think that alone speaks volumes. I have had several opportunities to sit in but not drive one. From a value perspective it doesn’t make sense. The E63s is the sweet spot as far as I’m concerned.

I’m m not a big fan of the new steering wheel all new Mercedes are using. I’ve got a loaner with it and it feels cheap and flimsy. It’s hard to believe they are putting it on such a high end car.

That's unfortunate, as I think it actually looks more premium, but have not had hands on with one yet.

My rant on virtually all AMG's: What's up with these cheap rubber Airbag covers? $200k car with a $20 cover? MB has the nappa leather stitched ones for their cheaper non-AMG models... Am thinking of getting one for the AMG GTC...

The new steering wheel definitely looks better but the dials feel plasticky cheap. Feels like you can break them off easily. The rest of the controls are a step up.
