The 2021 has been upgraded to MBUX, Mercedes new interface with Touch screen. 2020 and older models still used the older Comand system and as you mentioned, no touch screen.
The best of my knowledge, still not wireless CarPlay...

thank you for the clarification. That makes me feel better about my purchase. Although I’m still salty about the changes coming in 2022. But you never know. I may hate the new looks. It’s been happening a lot recently. Where car companies make the newer models uglier than the older.

What 2022 changes are you salty about?

MBUX and touch screen is great over the Command System.
but I don't know why they couldn't make the Carplay in MBUX full screen like Command System's Carplay.... urrrggg....

you know how on Command System, if you do the native navigation, the entire center screen is displayed with map in wide aspect ratio?
the CarPlay on Command system would display the same wide aspect ratio (full screen).

on MBUX, CarPlay only displays 4:3(ish) aspect ratio with black boxes on left and right..

Yeah, that does look kind of bootleg. Perhaps an over the air update will improve it. I get my car tomorrow. I can’t freaking wait!

Unfortunately MB hasn't addressed this on this version of MBUX. It is on Gen.2 (new S-Class, etc.). They made it so small so that the MBUX icons/temp aren't covered. But you can sign a petition of people feeling the same

Thanks for the pointer. Signed the petition. Was very disappointed in the Carplay implementation on the GLE580 the local dealership let me test drive... Also quite disappointed in the MBUX look and feel of the navigation for the native MB capability. Looked amateurish and cheap... Very less interesting than Google or Apple maps, or Garmin, or Waze... What were they thinking? Sigh. Probably won't prevent me from ordering, but would actually like MB to BE the best in every aspect...
