NEW 2021 AMG GT63S On order - Stuck between roof choice!!!

Hey guys!

Nee here... first post! So... hello MBWorld!

I have ordered a 2021 AMG GT63s and expect it to come in June or July. Anyways... I am sooooo tone between the roof. Either keep the panoramic roof ... nice to let light in etc. Or go with the aggressive sporty carbon fibre roof.

perhaps if I give you some perspective on how I spec’d it it may give you better info to provide some insight.

I basically spec’d it with every option:
-Limited night package (chrome delete except grill)
-matte graphite
-21” forge graphite rims
-aero dynamic package
-carbon fibre package 2

etc.

what are your thoughts on getting a carbon fibre roof vs the panoramic roof? Light in the car is nice. But carbon fibre is just a slick aggressive design.

thanks guys.

Welcome to the forum!
Love the look of the CF; looks fantastic from the outside but if you like an airy cabin the pano is a better choice. We have a CF roof on the M8 but I would have taken glass if available. We don't have a GT63 but our E63s in Night Black Magno looked aggressive with the pano...

I would go for the pano. I used to hate them for being hot, but now on our E63 and GLE580 they make the car feel open and a lot bigger and the screen does a better job now at blocking the heat. But like Wolfman said, the CF will probably look good from the outside, but that feeling inside will be better and that’s were you will be spending most of the time.
Good luck.

ally, I prefer only the options that enhance performance and avoid the cosmetic/comfort/visual extras if they have even a minuscule effect of dynamics of the car.
Don't like Pano, increases the weight in the worst possible location (roof), CF roof in comparison reduces that weight significantly and lower weight on the top does wonders for the car's handling.
The differences might be too small for most drivers to observe but I am very **** about it and I see and feel the improvement when driving cars back to back.
I always order ceramic brakes for the same reason (in that case it improves the ride) and try to stick to the lowest wheel diameter possible (that can still accommodate CCBs).

This is a choice I wrestled with for a while with my 2021. I went with the normal sunroof. The carbon is nice, but makes the cabin feel closed in. The pano is also nice, but it's heavy and it doesn't open for any airflow. There is also a large structural brace that runs horizontally through the middle of the pano roof so you lose the open air visual effect.

The normal sunroof option makes the front seats feel airy, allows airflow (love opening the sunroof and hearing the exhaust) and maintains good rigidity. Also the cheapest, which may be a moot point to optimize for with a $200k car, but it also happened to be my preferred variant of the roof options.

If the pano doesn’t open at all then that would be the deciding factor (I didn’t know that). CF or normal sunroof.

Completely static, no ability to open.

Also if you get High end audio like I did you donot have option of panaromic roof. High end audio was so worth it for me.

if you want more headroom, the CF roof would provide it. you lose quite a bit with a sunroof.
