X290 GT from Steel rotors to CCB discs

Replaced my steel rotors with Carbon ceramics. They’re aftermarket. Still breaking them in. So far it’s good. Pedal feels tighter and the wheels are much cleaner.

I do 😊. I can have it made for any vehicle with oem calipers. They recommend using the Pagid pads RSC1 but the pads they supply are very good. I am currently testing them on my own vehicle and so gas so good. Will be switching the front pads to Pagid no 8083 of 10mm from 66mm to 76mm which is slightly bigger to have more surface covering the rotors and reducing that lighter grey line closer to the hat.

Love it. Are there any significant cost savings going this route instead of paying for factory OEM CC parts? Or is this not a cost saver but more or less just an option to replace for steal equipped cars?

I had two main reasons on why I went this route.

1)The steel brakes were not lasting on my vehicle. I bought the vehicle brand new and at 10k km Mercedes replaced all 4 corners only pads for free then at 20k km I had them warranty the brakes again where they replaced front pads and rotors and only replaced pads on the rear because they said the rotors is still good thickness according to Mercedes’ thickness measurements which I found BS.

2)The dust that accumulating on the wheels right after washing the vehicle was extremely annoying.

3)Cost for replacement of steel rotors + pads was close enough to buying the aftermarket CCB. The rotors last longer and you only replace pads.

The CCB so far exceeded my expectations even in the rain. They warm up very quickly and make any noise when it’s raining. Only when it’s dry but I am still breaking them in. You can feel that they’re much lighter and the vehicle handles much better. Also at higher speed the braking is much more improved.

Id love a CC rotor and pad option for 53 models. My E53 brakes are atrocious with dust and nothing available yet aftermarket, not even pads.

MB is finally offering factory CCB option on 22 GT53 models. Love this, and will probably go this route when my E53 lease is up.

It’s better to get it from the factory as an option. But if you decide to add it from them after you optioned it out with the steel rotors it’ll be very costly
