From what I have seen on German news sites, there is difficulty sourcing the components for the drivetrain. I think that is the simple answer why it hasn't appeared yet.

I wonder if it is that and also regulations in the USA? Another thing is wasn't the journalist not pleased with that car?

It shouldn't activate on sport plus or race though, you can also set individual and configure atuo start/stop to be off I believe, you do that and you use the AMG drive unit on the steering wheel to set individual when you get in your vehicle. You press the screen of the right drive unit once and it will skip going from other drive mode first and straight into individual. If you don't press the screen and like extra steps, you could cycle from slippery then to comfort (car starts default in comfort) then to sport then sport+ then race then individual by rotating the right drive unit.

On a separate note, for all that have the car now, how's idle when the engine is cold? Mine has a random wobble that feels like a misfire but there are no codes. Lots of people appear to have had this issue with the M177.

Apparently this is an emissions related thing - to get approval from either the US or the European EPA, they had to default it to on with a manual shutoff. My 212 E63 has this too. I believe it started with the M157 series engines (which I have) and continues now to the M177 / 178 etc. The GOAT M156 did not have this (wasn't built for mid-cycle starts).

It's the second button on the right side of the v8 "bank" of buttons on the center console. First thing I do is turn it off before driving.

FYI, it looks like the 63 S model is being replaced by the E-PERFORMANCE model for 2024. So if you want the 63 S in pure V8 form, now is the time to get it.

Hmmm when I was at my dealership last week, they did mention build allocations for the 63 S were drying up/unavailable.
