2019 GT63S potential buyer

Hey guys long story short , coming out of a 212 E63 and was going to move right into a 213 E63 . Came across a couple of GT63's in the s trim that really have taken my interest. Unfortunately none are local local , plan on making the trek this weekend to drive/look at one . Have done my fair bit of research already. Really love the rarity & having a hatch for a change . Having driven & coming close to purchasing a 213 E63s in the recent months . Anyone have any seat time in a GT63 - as well as an e63 .

I am very curious on how much off a handling/steering difference there is with the 4 wheel steering ? I see the nurburgring times which are just wow'ing . Does this translate over to street enjoyment ha ? any insight etc is much appreciated . Planning on it being a daily driver/some backroad flogging on the weekends.. Is there any extra maint. or things to be aware of with these ? besides the common rear main seal leaks I haven't found much..

I have both a W212 E63 (2016) and a X290 GT63S (2023). Also driven the W213 E63 extensively on roads and track (in the US and the UK). A few points that I have noticed.
  1. The GT is just effortless at gathering dangerous (on street) speeds. With the 212, I felt a lot more in tune with the engine, including when I pushed it, but with the 290, it is more rocket ship that you hold on to.
  2. No excessive maintenance for me on either. Both are rock solid. No rear main seal leaks that I know of on mine.
  3. The 213 is a dream car in its own right. But, compared to the 290, it is less refined, more "grainy".
  4. The rear wheel steering makes the 290 feel like a car that's similar in size to the 212 instead of the 213. The 213 "feels" larger when steering (especially around canyons and backroads).

Hope this helps.

Sure does help me out. Smaller ownership crowd with these x290's . Appreciate the info!

Sounds good. One key thing to keep in mind. The X290 from 2019 to 2021 (2022 did not have a GT63S) had, according to more than a few people, very harsh suspension. The 2023 has a massively updated suspension and now it is MORE comfortable in C mode than the 212 and 213.
