Does anyone know if there is an actual mechanical difference, ie turbos, suspension, anything, besides just the tune for these? If do a tune to get me the same power isnt a 63s at that point.

Yes, the GT63S has dynamic engine and transmission mounts. These can be added to the GT63 with the AMG Dynamics Plus package. Traditionally the S models also had beefier brakes, but looks like the GT63 and GT63S both have the same brakes, just different color calipers, but again the AMG Dynamic Plus package adds the yellow calipers to the non-S. Both can be optioned with CCBs. The AMG Dynamic Plus package basically adds everything the S has, except for more power.

@superswiss Thank you very much. I do have the AMG Dynamic Plus Package (P71) along with the yellow brakes calipers. Time for a tune and the s badge. LOL What is CCB?

Just the upfront cost. These cars are heavy and you’ll be replacing steel rotors much more often that you would think. The Carbon Ceramic discs will last the life of the car, unless you track it. They pay for themselves before very long.

FCP Euro has lifetime replacement guarantee for steel rotors. My last set was free. Only have to buy the first replacement set and the subsequent ones are free. CCBs never pay for themselves unless you pay the inflated dealership prices for parts and labor when replacing the steel rotors.

I replaced several sets on my CLS AMG 63 S and got the rotors from FCP euro, never knew they would give you free replacements when they wear out. Certainly would be cheaper that way, dealer pricing to R&R the brakes is ridiculous for sure. Still prefer the CCBs, YMMV as always.

The only downside is that new orders only get store credit now, because the program had been abused in the past. They used to give a cash refund. For my last set they still honored the original policy, so I got a cash refund.

9K for a set of CCBs is a bargain in my book! Little to no brake dust, never need to be replaced unless you track the car and they look soo much better! If you do a proper bed in for the brakes, they don’t squeak.
