When I bought my 2020 53 I had my MB shop foreman look it over. He said a common issue with this car is the wiring harness going to the coil packs.
The heat from the turbos degrade the wiring and he stated when it is time to do a tune up the wires will basically fall apart. The price quoted was $1400.
I figure if the price is $1400 in Mercedes currency the fix should be half that cost.
I'm wondering has anyone experience this? He says it's common yet I can't find information online. He claims it's a poor design by MB.
Apparently this issue is common on the M256 platform. Not specific to the GT. I decided to try my luck and call MB to get a courtesy credit to repair it as I need my first tune up
While they wouldn't cover the full $1400 they did give me a $700 credit towards the cost.
