Wind Noise

So I've read about the wind noise and it's been pointed out something about the mirrors. But it's still not clear to me what on the mirror is causing it and how I can resolve it.

Can anyone shed light in detail on how I can resolve this. This won't be the first car I've purchased without test driving but it's definitely the only one I've been regretting.

UPDATE: I did find that the black piece that sits on the body of the car but just behind the mirror has some play. The drivers side does not so I think this is the piece folks were referring to as the culprit. Any suggestions on how to fix? I can't tell if there are clips or some sort of glue behind it. If gluing it down is the solution I'm wondering what the function of the piece is and if I had to replace a mirror housing would gluing it impact that?

What I found was the mirror has a black triangle where it attaches to the car. I found there's some play. It's basically a little loose. I wedged some 3M double-sided tape in there and the noise has been greatly reduced. Before it sounded like my window was cracked open.

Is that piece a snap-on or held down with a screw when you noticed it?

That is the million dollar question. No one had an answer for me and I didn't want to rip it off and be in a worse position so I just shoved some 3M double sided tape in there. I'm not sure if it's a clip or some adhesive.

I see, I wonder if the WIS document (workshop information system) will show, if you can get the part number, you might be able to locate it online.

Agreed, there just doesn't seem to be a lot of action or information on these forums or on the web for these cars.

I guess this vehicle is a niche vehicle after all compared to say a GLE, wish you all the best in finding the cause and fix though.

And that's precisely why I bought it. I prefer to buy vehicles you don't see on the road every day. Much like my S 550 Coupe. Thanks again.

More rattles

Now I have a rattling sound in my roof lining. If I press up to the left of my head in the driver's seat the rattle stops. I feel like the headliner needs some dampening. Anyone experience this and resolve it?

I must say they don't make 'em like they used to. My S550 Coupe and GL 550 are rock solid. These issues are not becoming of a $100K car.

I recently had a brand new CLA as a loaner. Again, not impressed with the build quality or corbers cut for pricing. I'm sitting there struggling to adjust the steering wheel before realizing it was manual. Same with the leg extension. 😂. Come on MB that should be standard across your line of cars.

I heard the build quality improved in the W214 E-Class at least when it comes to fit and finish, I heard reviewers say improved build quality of the all new CLA 2026.
