Painted my GLE calipers
Hey Gents,
So I decided to change my silver break pads to red ones. I think they came out pretty well. They are painted - not powder-coated. I might want to change them to Acid Green later in which I will powder coat. I am ripping a few hundred miles next week so we will see how they hold up. Will report back.
Details are high temp paint, replacement high temp AMG stickers in black, clear coat on top for protection.
Also had a 35% window tint to the front.
-Cheers

I painted my range rover calipers and it just didn't look as smooth as I wanted. I saved $500 bucks doing it myself but I was never happy with it - if anything I wish I didnt do it. For the AMG I wanted it more than perfect, stock like. I worked with Auto Design NYC to paint the calipers. Pretty good job.
Going back to them after I save some $ to have the rear end blacked out. (the silver bar and bumper step).

Gotcha.
I am thinking about "blackening out" my GLE 450 Coupe. I just wish Night Package was available in the states. It will be vinyl wrap the front lip, the rear aparon, and the silver strip on the trunk lid. The exhaust tips may not be possible...

You can NOT vinyl wrap your tips. It'll melt off. But there are ways to black them out is what I meant. Any decent shop can do it for you.

If not plastidip or vinyl wrap, I think plating it or painting with a dark tint coating it will be expensive. And once again, temp will be an issue. will have to look for high temp paint.
By the way, here is one GLE coupe with night package. they don't show the rear, but you can see the front lip in black. Let me know if you prefer the original silver/aluminum look or the black out look.

That looks great. I had been researching to do mine too and will probably just end up letting a shop do them. I also priced blacking out some more of the chrome and since there really isn't anyone talented enough around me where I live to do it, they wanted an astronomical price and thn were even hesitant to do it. So I'm interested in seeing yours if you get it done before I find someone to do mine.
Can you show us a better side picture that shows both wheels? You last picture only shows the doors or am I doing something wrong. It will help me persuade my wife into letting me do mine if she sees how they turn out in an aftermarket application. Thanks!

The guys I was working worth said it'd be a bit of a PITA to black everything out "the right way". They'd need to unmount a bunch and that meant possibly breaking a few clips and reapplying a different way. Not of concern, just more of a paint. To black out the two chrome in the back and the silver cross bar in the front, you should expect $750 if painting them (which is the right way to do it and more $ way).
You could try the look with a $10 can of plasti dip if unsure. Or use me as your test! haha. I'll have it down in the net 2/3 months no doubt (unless you give me the $750? jk!)
Photos of full car coming next week.
