There's been a lot of discussion when it comes to our Burmester Sound System.
Mike has done an awesome break down of this system and advised how best to retune and add to the system to have it perform as we all want it to.
I'm have now started planning an upgrade on my system by adding a couple of subwoofers and amps and a retune of the systems frequencies.
I've had a tonne of stereos where I've added big boxes to the boots of my cars but this time I would like to retain being able to fold my rear seats down.
In all these forums I've only seen a couple of pictures of W205's with subs fitted in their trunks and they have either been two small subs or a single sub boxed.
Has anyone done a custom subwoofer install yet?
I'm sure all us W205 owners would love to see how others out there have designed their sub enclosures be it single/dual boxes, stealth floor or quarter panel enclosures or any other diy or custom design.
Also, does anyone have pictures of a W205 sedan trunk that has been stripped of its interior trim panels and floor tray?
I'm interested to see if our cars have a floor cavity that could house a sub or two.

This link is pretty extensive on what someone did with a W205. Includes some very good DSP correction and maintains a clean look. Unfortunately the subbox is not hidden or built in - but still fits quite nicely.
understood - but did you read about the dsp and advanced corrections that the document referenced (as it really deals with the crossover functions and delays that are inherently challenged). Adding a sub box and amp is a solution for more bass but it won't fix the underlying quality issues of the poor quality in the system. I too would use a different box )a custom box using the lower trunk as well). But the original person who made this article is light years ahead of just putting a box and amp in the trunk in my own opinion.

Thanks Michael, as mentioned above the info mentioned in the article you have attach is very informative and already is apart of my planned install.
Now I am trying to see what others have done in their w205 trunks when it comes to adding the subs.
My original idea was to add two 12" subs and mount them as stealth as possible to retain the ability of opening the rear seats if needed, however, due to the lack of trunk floor cavity I think the floor option is out. (Note - Looking for stripped out trunk pictures - floor and qtr panel trims removed)
The left qtr panel looks to be my next option with a custom fibre glass box, however, the right side does not provide enough space for adequate volume, so I've been told.
This would be the last option of mounting sub in a stealth trunk install.
Maybe if the qtr panel trims were removed from both sides new fibre glass panels incorporating boxes can be made to obtain correct volume???
Last option is to ditch the stealth install and fabricate a custom behind the seat box.

Yes, did just see the costs... Had missed initially. The processor isn't available in the states, at least not cost effectively. I'm probably going to use the alpine or a Helix pp82dsp.
The project started a couple of days ago and is due to be completed by tomorrow if all goes to plan.
Brief to Tech:
1. Rear seat access to be retained
2. Maximum boot area to be retained but achieve adequate box volume for sub type
3. 2 x subwoofers
4. Stealth (ish) in design and removable
5. Floor to be accessible
6. Black suede trimming
7. Some blue LED lighting

I explored the idea of a false floor due to no spare wheel well and the use of some slimline subs, however, if I was spending the money for a custom install I might as well display the subs for all to see.
I chose 2x slimline JL Audio 13TW5V2-4 for their 13.5" diameter and 2.5" mounting depth and apparently they sound really good. (So I've been told anyway)
I knew box volume was going to be tight with my design so I think these were a good choice and they will look SICK as they are massive.
Amp to run these two 13TW5V2-4's is an
Alpine MRP-M1000 Mono Block that I had laying around unused from a previous set up.
Again, I have been told that Alpine MRP-M1000 power wise is under rated and should send approximately 600W to each sub.
That's what I have in a box right now, but it's not for looks or for show.... I am too old for that. I purchased for sound quality. They do sound nice, but I only needed ONE. I was looking for smooth sound and a kick. Nothing compares to my old Boston Acoustic sub, but they don't make that anymore and the amount of air volume it requires would take 1/2 the trunk for a sealed enclosure. :-(

The system is being fitted with a base controlling dial so you can turn the base up and down to your liking from the drivers seat.
My my wife listens to R&B and the standard system doesn't have the base she's used to or wants.
