What are you talking about??

My answer is only about the weight and parts needed for holding up that weight. Nothing else. And that where directed to the retrofit guys. Has nothng to do with the other parts or the problems I have right now. And those WILL be solved.

If your car is 2015 w212 with ntg 5.* you have to change an oem usb block. Costs about (70$). Then you have to update your ntg to the latest firmware and it will work. If your car has old style ntg, there is no point in changing it. You will need new cameras, new blocks for usb and control knob. Ntg 5 has 1 more button at the control knob, 2 usb ports. It's not worth the hassle. We have activated car play on the following cars. Done about 30 cars already.

Thanks for the details. Infuriating to have a high dollar car with sub par infotainment. I'm currently using an iPad air 2 in a mount as a home grown car play system.

I read the what it does, but it feels weak like most ODBDII like adapters. This one does even less then the Verizon or ATT models.

So I just recently read that some people are having aftermarket CarPlay compatible headunits installed, in lieu of the standard MB headunit. This seems like a much cheaper and more realistic option... so why bother retrofitting the exact newer MB parts and other junk?
