Sorry for this silly question. Just so that I better understand what your product does. It would allow us to put in a different engine (say a hellcat engine...not saying it fits or not) into our AMGs?

You can do THAT now. You don't really need anyone's ECU for that.

Wait, so could I put a turbine jet engine out of a helicopter in a Mercedes E55 with this?
Not saying it will fit or anything but I want A/C and factory driveability. Oh, and will my heated seats still work?

from what I gather stock LSx motor with a single turbo will make at least 600 rwhp and can be found in junk yards for $500.

countless guys running in all types of different cars with this set up. Twin turbo is not uncommon.

Not really pointed at you but more how threads like this always go. But to answer every question about every engine the answer is yes. You can run just about any engine with a standalone engine management system. It would have to be reconfigured to run off the other sensors and fuel injectors, etc. As long as it has enough input/outputs and the correct control strategies top operate things like DBW, Cam controls etc.

What I think is that if you want to build a cheap car that goes fast then do not start with a Mercedes and turn it into a Chevy. Just buy a Chevy. Put an ls3 and a 4l80e into a 70's-80's cheap chassis and go fast.

I think with the 55k becoming cheaper and more often than not coming with worn motors replacing it with an LS and putting a turbo or TT is cheaper than buying a Benz motor. The added cost of the stand alone to make it all work would be worth it since tuning capabilities would be somewhat endless.

Of course- but it always was cheaper to "drop an LS motor in it". Kind of defeats the purpose of having an AMG though, doesn't it? Just go buy a Caprice or an SS at that point. They already have LS engines.

It is also not just that easy to put and engine in a car. You have to deal with the entire driveline as well. And the second anyone starts putting real power through the driveline you will find it needs work. So that cheap ls engine plus a custom turbo kit to fit in a w211 chassis. engine mounts, cooling hoses, adapter plate to transmission and an 8k ecu. Or in addition a transmission and differential and half shafts and driveshaft. A/c has not been addressed. It just adds up like crazy. So really you end up with a real piece that really is not a Mercedes anymore anyways.

Second. You end up with a Frankencar. That's fine if that's what you want (plenty of badass Frankencars out there), but you have to go into it knowing what's what.

This is more for people who would like to turn boost up past 17psi and/or run e85 etc and be able to tweak their tune whenever they want. Wish this was available a few years ago

Just a heads up. Speedriven is a smaller shop that can take a bit longer than some of the big box mb shops. However, time not being factored in, everything they have done on my car has been pretty much spot on. I also would recommend e-mailing Jo directly instead of calling. Either way, I hope to hear feedback and results on the stand alone.

its way cheaper/easier to just buy an 09 CTS-V that already has a supercharger LS motor in it than it is to swap one in. Don't know why anyone would even consider doing a swap when you can just buy a whole other car that is similar that already has the engine in it. You're also not going to have near the reliability issues with a CTS-V as what you will with a w211 car (such as airmatic, SBC, etc..). Performance parts are also going to be a ton cheaper.

I agree.

But, let's say if you did pay a few grand for this standalone for whatever reason and have not received it after 2-3 months, that is a whole other issue....and not a good sign from the vendor.
