I love how the Ad says "fully serviced by MBZ dealer" and in the pictures the dash readout says "Service A Due".

Checked carfax and autocheck, shows 1 owner car and with no issues.
On paper, seems like a very good deal with low miles and options...
should move quick !!

Current price situation
Hello everybody from Germany,
I'm new here because I was looking for information on the SLS. I'm one of those dumb people that wanted to buy a used SLS a couple years ago for 115k and passed because I hoped they were going down a little bit more. Oh well, lesson learned.
Now I'm actively looking for an SLS again and was reading through this thread which I found very interesting.
I was especially thankful for the information on how many cars were listed on the different Marketplaces and boards like cars.com over the years.
In August 2015 someone wrote that there were 39 SLS on Cars.com and 48 on Autotrader. If I look now there are 109 SLS on cars.com and 99 on Autotrader.com.
Same thing here in germany where there are currently 295(!) cars listed on the biggest site mobile.de. About two years when I looked there were less than 100 cars listed.
So I'm really wondering a) Why are there so many cars suddenly in the market and b) if the market will react to that. I talked to a dealer here in Germany and he has told me that prices have come down around 10-20% in the last 12 months in Germany.
Personally I can't see that because a good car with low mileage still is beeing offered for 200k+ in Germany.
Would really like to hear what you think about this since my knowledge of the SLS market is very limited compared to you guys.
Thanks!

I'm sure the inventory levels have increased because lease returns on the more recent model years and owners seeing the higher prices so they're willing to sell.
Price should follow inventory but I would expect it to be dealers willing to "slash" prices just to move the car versus others holding out at a higher price. Overall you'll still be paying a premium over a few years ago but you should find a good deal if you search around. Prices are still pretty high in the US but I'm keeping mine forever.

i dont get what I mean half the time
No expert here but I keep an eye on things... Over the last 2 years I have seen the German market have about the same amount of cars for sale (260-295) that has remained steady. There is a spike of supply in the US. The leases on these cars are all but about up. Once this extra inventory gets bought up by enthusiasts and collectors you will see a significant spike up in price as cars will be slow to return to market if ever seen again at all. I know unless I really need to sell mine it is never going to appear for sale ever again. Last chance to buy at a "decent" price...

Yeah, asking prices have leveled off and come down a touch in the past few months. I suspect, as others have noted, that this is due to many cars returning to dealers from 2-3 year leases. Once the supply glut is worked through and barring any economic disasters I would think prices will begin to creep upwards again. The SLS has a few major things going for it - 1) the unmistakable lineage to a bluechip collectible 2) monster 6.2 liter normally aspirated engine which will never be repeated (all turbos now) 3) those doors! (at least on the coupe) which aren't going to be repeated anytime soon.
It reminds me a bit of what happened with the 05/06 Ford GT around 2010. People just sort of forgot about them & you could scoop one up for $120k-140k all day long. Fast forward 5 years and they're $300k minimum for a good, low mile example.

Thanks for your input. Not sure if the Ford GT is the best comparison though... Didn't they make just like 4,000 vs. the roundabout 10,000 SLS?
I'm also surprised to see SLRs available in the 200 to 250k range since it's a much rarer car but that's probably because it's insanely expensive to insure and maintain. There is a 7-year Service that costs you 20k.

Makes sense. Here in Germany the GT is incredibly rare. I have seen maybe 4 in the last 10 years. SLS I have probably seen 30+.
AMG recently stated in an interview that all in all over 10,000 SLS were built.

I have a friend that knows a dealer that has purchased 15 US cars and sent them to Germany for sale.
The good news for SLS rarity is that the US Gov won't let most second hand cars come from the outside the US in. Trump would be proud...
"If vehicles manufactured abroad conform to U.S. safety, bumper, and emission standards, it is because these vehicles are exported for sale in the United States. Therefore, it is unlikely that a vehicle obtained abroad meets all relevant standards. Be skeptical of claims by a foreign dealer or other seller that a vehicle meets these standards or can readily be brought into compliance. Vehicles entering the United States that do not conform with U.S. safety standards must be brought into compliance, exported, or destroyed."
This one should be off the boat by now and running around on your streets.

That low price window closed by mid 2009 and prices were back up to MSRP by 2010 which was $139-999-$149,999; which by the way was a new-car price that Ford tried to enforce from '04-'06 given PR risk of dealer-gouging. Discounts of $2500-5000 were not unheard of in late 2006 and the Heritage/GULF at $185K saw many sit well into 2007.
So, for a 5yr old car to sell near MSRP in 2010 is actually great; when it crossed MSRP in 2011-12 then it was a big deal an all the the nay sayers were silenced.
Well used SLS's Cpe (20-35Kmi) can still be had for $155-165K; half dozen for sale in LA today.

The Ford GT bottom was actually 3rd/4th Quarter of 2008 at $125K and were for well used cars; with over 5-10K mi. which on a 2-3yr old exotic-car was high; and several were for undsclosed-damaged cars, exotic-rental and iffy dealers.

I'm not exactly sure if you are trying to say that the FGT is doing something demonstrably different from the SLS but I remain unmoved on my original statement.

FORD GTs are by and large low mileage with 1,000 mi/yr usage (ie, every other weekend pleasure drives); so in 2010 5K mi cars were common
In addition the "float" of GTs for sale in general is low; so lows/highs in sales have dramatic effect. Further, a very large % of original owners still own and wont sell. The '17 FGT allocation to exiting owners was very large.
The "low-price" window was mostly hi-mileage cars and many distress sales (even repo, seizure, cars in mexico..famous post on FGT Forum). Even today a 30-50K mi GT will sell at a major discount; while the 10-15K mi. cars sell for $275-300K and <2Kmi sell for $300-500K
So...a car with say 5000 miles from a known seller would have no problem selling in the $139-149K range in 2010...and many did. There are 3 major dealers that have sold in the 100s of GTs each.
The GT rebounded from NEW to low to MSRP in 4yrs; SLS has not consistently sold above $185K unless <2500 mi. examples in desirable colors/options 5yrs out.
I would say rebound/appreciation of SLS is closer to Z8 and will plateau; while FGT wont IMHO.
Float & liquidity of any asset have large implications on secondary market-value.
This is the For Sale link from F GT Forum with 10yrs of data; 99% were sold, forum members were vigilant about any available.

I think the truth will be somewhere in the middle (between FGT and Z8). Here are a couple reasons why the SLS will fare better than the Z8.
#1 - SLS is a much better car. Example: Z8 has well documented subframe issues.
#2 - SLS is the last of a generation. Normally aspirated V8 engines are pretty much gone forever - at least from MB. Exhaust note and throttle responsiveness will always be superior to forced induction.
#3 - Those doors.
For the record, the SLS GT, Final Edition, and BS sell above (up to nearly 2x in the case of BS) MSRP. Good SLS (11/12) examples are at MSRP in terms of asking prices. Hard to know for sure what they're selling for.

The Z8 is rock solid and I'm happy to report that any sub frame concern is a non-issue with the BMW performance package installed. With that said, the doming of the front strut towers due to a strong jolt to a front tire was a rare event before this fix and there are a lot of Z8s without the PP that are just fine.
The FGT is on my wish list, and apparently prices have softened according to Hagerty. I'm looking at one next week because I feel it still has long-term upward potential in value. Besides they're suppose to be a blast to drive with a widow maker personality if you don't respect it.
