beautiful 2016 e63...

wanted to ask - does your 2016 has the same slight throttle lag (or not so slight) that the 2014 and 2015 e63's owners have posted about??? I saw some random posts about 2016 E63s that supposedly DONT have the throttle lag but no explanations for why as the 2016 is pretty much the same as 2014/2015 model.

i just bought a 2015 e63 S (CPO) last week and love the car about 99.9% of the time. it is an amazing machine especially comparing to my last Benz which was a C32 AmG.

BUT it is annoying the throttle or transmission lag what ever its called thats noticeable from from a dead stop or when slowing to a stop sign and then accelerating.

if the 2016 models dont have that lag, i am interested to know what is different in the 2016 model year vs 2015/2014...... am guessing there really is NO difference and the 2016 models have the lag as well which i can live with in my 2015 model.

Enjoy, I am sure the trip home was a fun drive

mean time i am ordering the sprint booster which you seem to like too. i have it on my c32 and like the more responsive throttle it provides in green mode where you no longer have to push the pedal down 60-70% just to get the car to kick into a lower gear, that happens much quicker.

My 2016 has throttle lag, especially in comfort mode. But still present to a degree in other modes.

I do have issues with throttle/transmission lag in comfort mode, most of the time I drive in Sport +.

In comfort mode it feels like the car can barely move, and in Sport mode it bucks a lot when trying to find gears.

Sprintbooster transformed comfort mode into a pleasurable mode for me ... also I drive in S all the time not s+ unless I'm looking for peak performance

S+ will be the worst for smooth shifts even after your car has gone through adaptations

S seems to follow adaptations and provides me the best shifts balancing against sportiness ... if you choose to drive predominantly in S mode I recommend you reset adaptations and drive casually for about 200 miles and it'll adapt nicely ... but S+ will still retain aggressive performance

Anotherone mine bucks a lot too it is scary to me. I drove on in DE and nothing like this it felt as good as the GTs...

I had the 2015 and although the shifting was rougher did not feel like the transmission was going to get crushed. I am going to the dealer today and see if there is something they can do it is horrible. Much lees lag in the 16 and smoother gear changes when it is not bucking... if they can fix the bucking then I will be really happy with the upgrade

Resetting the transmission never fixed the bucking in S mode for me. This has to be one of the worst transmissions ever put into an otherwise excellent luxury car. I hope the entire team was fired...

Agree, but the 8 speed ZF in the X5M is pretty bad too. 8 speed ZF is an amazing transmission but BMW ruined it by making it act like its a DCT. Bucking in 1st gear was so bad it was like someone had just rear ended you.

i had Benz buyback dollar for dollar two brand new custom ordered e550 sedans in 2014 for clunky transmissions but the majority of 2014 e550 owners had smooth transmissions ... go figure

I just went for a drive, I reproduced the problem the tech acknowledged it! he has a fix, so he says; a cold-warm-hot adaptation and to do it properly it need 2-3 days It measures the gaps in all gear possible combinations and adjusts. He says it will shift a lot smoother than what it is shifting most of the time now. Which to me, it would be as awesome as a 2016 PDK.
How cool that will be. I need to make an appointment now...

I've been avoiding taking mine to the dealer for the bucking since it will be transparently obvious I've had a tune and I want them to be unaware of that as long as possible. (The tune wasn't the cause of it, though.)

Peter, can you briefly tell us what the member with a 2016 e63 reported about the throttle lag?

bottom line, do 2016 models still have the lag which the 14/15 models are known to BOTH be equal in?

This TCU torque limit on MCT really ruins an otherwise perfect car. It's t biggest complaint about it from day one.

Although I am not Peter, I do not notice much lag, hesitation on shifting or jerking like the 15.
If I can get the occasional bucking fixed this will be a sweeeeeett, sweeeeet ride..

i mean the initial lag the car has when when flooring the gas pedal from a complete stop. Not the other lags (which don't really bug me much) such as slowing down to a stop sign and then hitting the gas.

But flooring it from a complete stop, normally with no brake torque/RS launch does the 2016 resolve this issue or not, that is the question.
