Picked up a '16 E63S!
It was time for me to part ways with my MR X5M. I enjoyed my time with it, the speed, and being the only MR X5 in the PNW
I didn't intend on selling it, but had an opportunity to get out of it for a great price. Didn't know what I wanted, and drove a lot of cars, ended up getting a '16 E63S AMG. Picked it up from House of Imports in LA (ask for Anees!) and drove it back up to Seattle!
I have to say, Mercedes build quality is light years better than BMW. On the 1,500 mile trip, killing countless bugs and driving behind semis, the front had zero rock chips. Drove it straight for basically 16 hours and it didn't skip a beat. Usually I am tired from driving long distances (my average commute is 200-300 miles a day) but I felt wonderful after the drive.
Didn't get many pictures in LA; got sick the day we picked it up so just slept in the room most of the day. Got the windows tinted by Fresh Window Tint in Valencia (ask for Junior!) Rayno 20% on all the windows. Suntek CXP 70% on the windshield
BMW interior tech is way better than MB currently. The stock HK system is decent (would had optioned B&O if I had ordered it). I will miss the HUD and the quick/easy changing of the music.
I know it would had been cheaper to have it trucked up, but I enjoy these long road trips, always clears the mind.
Now on to the what replaced the X5M...

Congratulations on the new car purchase!
I love the photos of the car and the background. I wish Mercedes offered similar HUD option as BMW's.

Congrats. Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your new toy. I used to have 3 BMWs and now have 3 AMG cars. Build quality is far better than BMW. The comfort of the e class is much better than the 5 series that we had. Great looking car, looks realy good in white.

My brakes are good but they tell me I'm close to needing new tires by next summer

Congrats! They still have a silver one left. Is that the Polar White with $111,970 MSRP? Hope you got a better deal than the $6,500 discount they advertised online plus the $3k E-Class Spring Bonus Cash from MBZ.

all those bug kills with no clear bra on makes me..
H.O.I is still the #1 selling mercedes dealership by volume, I believe? it's where my fam picked up our first MB as well. My fave exhaust shop is still just around the corner from them.

No, I believe Fletcher Jones in Orange County is the largest by volume. Big market down there!

Thanks!
Thanks!
Treasure Island is a beautiful place to go and see all of SF.
I do too, HUD is just amazing. But after a week of driving the E, the gauges are setup well enough that I don't miss it that much.
Thanks! Yup, I got tired of having to bring it back to service every other week.
Thanks!
Thanks!
The E is amazing, I drive an average of 200 miles per day and I don't feel tired at all.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I wish the car was a tad bit louder though!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yeah, my last two BMW's had there problems, but we will see how the E is.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yeah, they still have the matte grey one. I got an awesome deal, probably because the new body is coming out.
Your car is amazing as well!
I know, I wanted to put tape on the front or something, but just said F it and drove it. Surprisingly no rock chips! MB has some thick clear coat.
Not sure, but the service at HOI is amazing!
Thanks!

Quick question, I am going to get a resonator delete done ( wish I had done it in LA ) but the shop asked me what pipe I want to replace them with. They said 2.5", 2.75" or 3". Which one is the best
I also ordered V8 biturbo badges from this site:
http://chromecarletters.com/mercedes...lettering.html
And having my local paint guy paint the stock badges gloss black.
And should I keep the front grill the aluminum silver finish or get it painted gloss black as well? I have the night styling package and the illuminated star.
Also, how hard is it to wrap the top part of the chrome door handles gloss black? I wish I would have done it in LA, a local shop quoted me $500

Congrats and love the pictures! I agree the MB gauges are a bit of a let down (the look cool at night but cheap in the day time) but the HK is good to live with, better than Bose and on par with BMW's HK systems. A bit crazy but I am a die hard BMW guy with over 8 BMW's (last was a e90 M3 manual, coolest was my 2006 4.8 iS) in the past and this is the first MB for me. I chose it over the M5 CP and it is a great car with unbelievable speed.
I commute about half your miles, 100 mi/day and think this car is great to live with. What are your impressions of it against the X5M? Was it the E70 or F15?
